I have never written a "Dear Author" letter before, but since I have strayed from LJ this past year, I thought it might be beneficial.

I'd like to start by thanking you for participating in this year's fic-a-thon. It's my first one back after a few years off and I am looking forward to all the wonderful femslash that will result.

About me- I am a simple gal with simple tastes. I love all types of stories (except graphic BDSM)with a preference for "first time" stories, "missing scene" stories, stories that offer a different perspective on a canon scene. But mostly, I just love reading fic. And I love Regina Mills, HG Wells, Emily Prentiss, and good old Erica Hahn.

So do what you will, dear author. Write your heart.

Thanks!
CB
cabenson: (New Boot Goofin)
Okay everyone. Regina Fucking Mills is my new Mrs CB2. Sorry Alex Cabot! Sorry Helen Stewart! But this bitch has MAGIC!!!!! I love this show so much I can't stand it. Except for Mulan and Sleeping Annoying. I could do without either of them.

I signed up for Femslash 12 fan-fic-a-thon. Got my assignment yesterday. I am gonna write for a pairing I have never written for before. But I have an idea...and 7 weeks. I'd like to get it done before Nano starts, because I would really love to try that this year.

We have a stray tomcat that has been hanging around the castle since June. He really wants in the house, and today he got past me and took off for the basement. I put him back outside, but I realized that we need him as much as he needs us. So we are giving in and taking him to the vet. If he checks out, he gets to live with us and our cat harem. His name is Frankie and he looks like Puss in Boots from Shrek, except he has icy green eyes. He has a little friend, Fidget, who shows up just to be fed. We are gonna try to get her adopted by someone who is not us.

I can't think of any other bullshit, but I'll be back again. You have been warned!

For the first time in several years, I am excited about fandom (Once Upon a Regina Show). When I get excited about fandom, I return to teh LJ. So here, people, help me be more productive on teh LJ.

Stolen from everyone:

Comment and I'll.....

1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something. A fandom, a song, a colour, a piece of fruit. SOMETHING.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5 . Associate you with a character/pairing.
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you. (Or else I'll just ask a random question. I reserve that right.)
7. Tell you my favorite user pic(s) of yours.
8. Tell you that you must spread this disease in your LJ.

3 - A pairing you have never liked and probably never will.
4 - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.

Last Friday, Mrs CB and I stopped in our local pet store to get a new collar for Artie and some kitty food. We visit this pet store regularly and I always make a point to visit the adoption center to see who has been adopted and who is new. Mrs CB and I were loving away on the kitties when we cam to a cage with 3 small black and white tuxedo kittens. One came up to the bars of the cage and just LOVED all over our hands. We could not resist.

Wow have I been neglecting this place. I need to do better, and I promise you dear flist, I will try. And by "try" I mean I will probably fail...

But before you all forget me, I must tell you all that I am in love! And yes, Mrs CB is completely, eye-rollingly, aware. Cause my new love? Mayor Regina Mills from ABC's "Once Upon A Time." She has effectively replaced Alex Cabot as Mrs. CB 2 so you know this shit is for realz! Evil, manipulative, incredibly flawed, but still vulnerable and sympathetic. And HAWT!!!! I so love this show! I haven't been actively interested in a fandom since the days of Otalia.

Of course, I am once again dealing with a spinal issue. And when CB's back breaks down, a new fandom interest is never far behind. So while I toil away in PT trying to fire muscles that have been dormant for 7 years, I think about the lovely, evil, Mayor Regina Mills. Think about stories I want to watch and songs I want to vid. Think about spending hours on Tumblr trolling for pics and fic.

And when I get the random bachelor weekend, I re-watch the episodes looking for anything that I might have missed on the first five viewings. Did I mention that I love this show? The entire ensemble is wonderful and I love the little twists we see to the fairy tales we grew up with. Not a huge fan of Jennifer Morrison in this role-she started out bad-ass but then went wimpy. Bad-ass returned the last few eps, but...let's just hope that she (both the actress and the character) grow stronger next season, cause the fireworks when Emma and Regina are together? SMOKING!!! Reminds me of early Helen/Nikki.

So tell me your thoughts on this show/characters/pairings/hopes for season 2. I would love to discuss this with a more intelligent audience, and yes dear flist, I am accusing you of being intelligent :)

Please send out good thoughts and prayers to our [livejournal.com profile] theholyinnocent, a wonderful writer and a dear personal friend to many of us. On Monday she suffered a sudden illness and has been making steady progress in the ICU. She should be moved to a general room tomorrow and hopefully released on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

We have been getting daily updates from Mrs. THI and with her permission, I am passing on this information.

THI does not have computer access at this time so please keep that in mind if sending a message or email.

We lost Mr. Greyson Lee last night. Really hard to let him go, but we know that continuing these invasive treatments were more for our benefit than his, He died peacefully in my arms, Mrs CB holding his tiny white paws. Thanks for being our first boy, Greyson! We will miss you!!

cabenson: (Jeri-curl Greyson)
What a crazy month it has been since i last posted. On Oct 20th, Mrs CB had a gum graft done-very painful, and gross, procedure. The next day, we rushed our oldest, Greyson to the emergency vet due to breathing issues. That was an interesting trip. Mrs CB had JUST taken a vicodin and was a bit loopy, I had taken my blood sugar meds but stopped my lunch as soon as I noticed what was happening to the cat, and well, the stress....ugh!

We had noticed that our Fat Bastard had lost a significant amount of weight over the past year, and we attributed it to the diet food we put them on in January. When we got him to the kitty ER, his lungs were filled with fluid. He had undiagnosed hyperthyroidism that was the cause for the weight loss and those three words we hate to hear: congestive heart failure. They tapped his lungs and removed a ton of fluid, kept him on O2 overnight and he was good enough to go home the next day.

For the past month we have been monitoring his breathing and treating the CHF with great success. His latest films show no fluid in lungs, but still some remnant in the surrounding pleura. As we were preparing to start him on his thyroid meds, we discovered that he has Primary Renal Disease. This is not good. We are now using a cautious, conservative approach to treating all three conditions. Thankfully, the anti-nausea and appetite stimulants have kicked in and he is eating and drinking like a fiend. We are hoping this, and the thyroid meds will help him gain some weight. He was previously 19.5 lbs and is now 11.4. Most of that weight loss has occurred since July.

He is resting quietly today after spending yesterday at the animal hospital for tests. We know that we have a long road ahead, with many appointments, and many days struggling to give him his meds. I just hope we can have him for a little longer before we have to say goodbye.

I have been on a cooking kick lately. Especially with root veggies like carrots, turnips, taters and beets. Those last two I should not be eating but OMG! have you had them roasted? Delicious! Went so well with the rump roast I slow cooked for most of the day. Glad I had to get up for work and started that sucker early, cause it fell the fuck apart, it was that tender.

And since I worked this weekend, I get a 4-day next weekend (Thurs-Sun). Taking Mrs CB to have oral surgery on Thurs (nasty!) and I have a fat girl diabetic check up on Friday. Doing fairly well with that. Down 15 pounds in 3 months with ,uhm, no exercise to speak of other than working the remote. Now that the weather is cooler, I can start walking again in the evenings. Hahahahaha. I'll walk to the bathroom or kitchen and call myself a long-distance runner. Breathing is hard, yo!

So, this weekend, I am gonna catch up on some LJ reading. I have yet to tackle the SCC Virtual Season or the Otalia VS, so I am putting those on the list. Anything else I should read? Any good WH13 fics? Alex/Olivia? Preferably where Alex tells Olivia to get the Stabler-sized burr out of her ass? Any CM JJ/Prentiss post WIP fics. I need one with Cheetobreath scrabble people! I also have a serious case of the Scully's today. Make it happen! Haha, love that movie.

Besides reading I need to work on a couple vids. Myka/HG and Alex/Olivia are up first. Then if I can get the media, I want to do another JJ/Prentiss one. I cannot promise to NOT do a Prentiss/Staruss one...

Finally, props to my Buckeyes for getting their heads out of their asses and playing a simple game plan against Illinois. Remember that in 5-6 weeks when we play the team that shall not be named (but rhymes with bitchigan.)

I don’t think I can remember the last time I actually posted something related to fandom. My last big fling was with Guiding Light and after that ended I just didn’t care anymore. I did a few vids, but couldn’t get into reading any pairings, let alone writing. But a summer sci fi show and the return of an old favorite have triggered those obsessive feelings again, and I think I may just be hooked.

Thoughts on SVU and Warehouse 13 )
cabenson: (Default)
First off, hoping that all those in the path of Hurrpocolypse (or Hurrmageddon) Irene are safe and sound, and well-prepared. Booze, candy and flashlights to read by are MUST HAVES!!!!

We are enjoying a beautiful day here in Columbus. Had a nice brunch, finally got the Windows 7 upgrade for my PC (Fuck you later, Vista!) and got groceries all before 1:00pm. Been watching Dr. Who-a-thon and Weather Channel this afternoon. It is like weather Pr0n, people!!!

I also put the first of our "eat meals at home" dinners in the oven. A beautiful meatloaf which I will be serving with spinach and fresh tomato slices. It's been easier for me to avoid temptatation if I make meals at home, and I am really working hard to stay on the right track.

Six weeks ago I was officially diagnosed as Insulin Resistant and Pre-Diabetic. Add in my high blood pressure and I have what they call Metabolic Disorder. I take meds for my BP and also, a medicine for my glucose. I basically have to act as if I am Type 2 Diabetic (food-wise)except that at this point, I don't need to check my glucose. I have given up alcohol except for a random beer, "white" foods (rice, flour, taters) and have added more protein and fresh veggies. So far, with barely any exercise, I have lost almost 10 lbs. I can go back to the gym after Labor Day. My goal is to lose 70 lbs total by next summer. For the first time in years, I think I can do it.

Damn that meatloaf smells wonderful. Tomorrow is Chicken Parm (not breaded tho) with whole grain pasta and sauce.Regular, and Pasta plus still make me fall asleep after eating so I am hoping this will work better and not taste like ass. Also plan to have good old Ham and beans this week with Chili on Saturday as NCAA Football starts!!!

Last note, is someone on my flist pregnant? Cause I am craving pickles like crazy!
cabenson: (Default)
Having a bachelor night but it's not nearly as much fun as I had anticipated. My original goal was to have a nice, healthy dinner, then re-caulk the bathroom tub. Exciting, I know! Instead, I am waiting for my pizza bloat to deflate as I contemplate what I am gonna wear to yet another funeral. Mrs. CB's beloved step-dad passed away last night after a long fight with cancer. I don't feel grief as much as I feel relief that we all know he is no longer suffering. A new adventure awaits him, and Mrs. CB's family, as we all learn to live with him tucked snugly in our memories. With our beloved nephew Billy. It's been almost 2 years and I still can't think of him and not get tears. But he has Phil now. And his other grandma who passed a few weeks ago. And his young niece who passed a few months ago. Too many passings for this family. One would think it would break them, all these losses. Instead, they forge ahead, stronger each day. I am fortunate to know them. I am blessed to love them.

Hug your peeps all. Life is short.

First off, congrats to the IDF/Femslash Con team for a wonderful weekend. I didn't get to participate as much as I had hoped, but what I saw was fabulous. And a special thanks to those who attended my panel on vidding. I was sure no one would attend.

Been a rough day at the workplace. I have a coworker who has twin boys, 16 yrs old. The were born with Allagile Syndrome (one needed a liver transplant, the other cardio/pulmonary issues)and were not expected to make it to their tenth birthdays. Last night, after a valiant fight, Chris (cardio/pulmonary issues) passed away after a week in the hospital for a pulmonary bleed.

I was stunned when I heard. This kid has been through so many procedures in the 3 years I have known his mom, that I just assumed he would champion though and make a complete recovery...until the next crisis. When I heard that he had been hiding the severity of this recent illness from his parents, to spare them, I realized he has been ready to go for some time.

So if you have a spare prayer or thought hanging around, throw it towards the Caldwell Family. They have been through so much, and Chris leaves behind a fragile twin as well as two healthy brothers. They are gonna miss him terribly.

Happy IDF and Femslash COn 2011 everyone!

I will be running a panel tomorrow at 2:00pm ET on Videos.I will be in Room 3 Plan to discuss how to tell a story in video form, how I make my vids and how people respond to videos vs. text stories.

Come and join me, or I will talk about you. :)

First, watch Mr. Bruin Thomas try to walk while stoned from his vet trip yesterday:

Poor little Satan. He is much better this morning.

Second, Daddy #1's heart scare of 10 days ago turned out to be a severe case of shingles. If you have never experienced nerve pain, consider yourself lucky. It can truly be so intense you break out into a sweat. I am hoping he recovers soon.

And finally, it really sucks to get old!

Two weeks ago I went to the doctor to get my thyroid levels drawn. Since I hadn't eaten, she decided to do all the fasting stuff too. Did you know that when a woman becomes pre-menopausal, their cholesterol level can increase GREATLY? I'm talking 45 units in 2 years!!! For the first time in my life, I have high cholesterol. And it's all the BAD cholesterol. Crazy thing is, I have been eating better the last two years.

And if my elevated blood pressure and cholesterol weren't enough, there's that tricky little increase in my blood sugar as well. Enough to be classified "pre-diabetic". Yesterday I had the additional testing done (2 hr pp gluc and insulin)to determine if it is diabetes 2 or metabolic syndrome. Add in continued Vitamin D deficiency and a significant iron store depletion and you have my current physical state. At least we caught the iron thing before I went anemic again.

What does this mean for me other than adding iron and Vit D supplements to my diet? Well, I am starting the Glycemic Index diet and hope to avoid any additonal medications. All of these things have contributed to my general malaise (and I'm pretty sure they cause all my typos) over the past few years, which has been the main reason I have been less active in fandom. Hopefully that will change, along with my waistline.

So wish me luck, flist, and keep your fatty, sweet carbs to yourself, lol.
cabenson: (Default)
Hey! Are you making plans for International Day of Femslash 2011? You should be! Would love to see some of my old, and new friends representing the fandoms we all love.

I need to spend some time deciding on my submission for IDF 2011. I really want to do a Myka/HG vid (WH:13). Just need to find that perfect song. Possibly a Rizzoli & Isles, cause they make subtext maintext without even trying. And then there is the "say goodbye to SVU" vid to close out the Alex and Olivia pairing. So many choices, so little time... Thoughts? Suggestions? Retire already's?

Been a crazy week at Casa Cabenson. Lots of traveling all over Ohio. But all is good and everyone is well for the most part. I have come to the realization that having 3 sets of parents may equal 3 times the love, but also 3 times the stress and worry when one of them becomes ill. Daddy #1 had an emergency heart cath in NW Ohio (had a 4X bypass 2 years ago)but it appreas that the pain is from a possible pinched nerve in his back/neck. I had the same thing happen a few months ago-felt like a sledgehammer hitting you in the back then migrating to the arm and chest area. Good news is his heart is in great shape.

Yesterday, I met my mom halfway (120 mi roundtrip) to get a cheeseburger from my hometown. They are that good! Okay, that was a bonus. I actually offered to buy her a garden hose that her local Lowe's was out of. I just wanted to see her-she had her first "old lady" fall in the tub and she's only 64! She was okay, of course, and went out and bought those slipguard things, but still! I drove 120 miles IN THE RAIN just to make sure she was okay. Lots of miles on Helen Stewart this week.

These old people are testing my need to be stress free, which leads to....

I have a small announcement:

I am giving up bacon and all of its wonderfulness! After a simple thyroid check turned into the office visit of doom, I need to make some significant lifestyle changes. A follow up test this Friday may lead to even MOAR changes. Getting old sucks!

So my goal for this week is to rid the house of all offending foods, save what the wife loves. This includes my 2 bottles of prosecco. I will start on that as soon as I post this :)

I figured that while I was waiting for Teh Rapchurz!!!! I could post about the happenings at Chez CB.

First, how many of you saw Olivia Benson grope a dying nun this week? Not the best pic, but see for yourself:

I know Olivia is desperate for some action, but seriously?

Okay, in other news: I have a large ganglion cyst on my left wrist. In the past few weeks, it has started to hurt, so yesterday, I tried to smack it with a book. Failed to break it, but I do think I broke my record for most expletives shouted in one breath. Today, I asked Mrs. CB to try smacking me and she did...and I laughed, cause it SO wasn't painful. She barely tapped it. She's afraid she'd hurt me. I guess I'll wait til my next visit with the doc to get it drained.

The "renting for a month before foreclosure" neighbor across the street is having a crap sale today. Really hate crap sales cause people don't respect the other folks living there. Just park in front of my drive, bitch. It ain't no thing. Then there are the dogs. They have a Great Dane sized dog as well another one small enough that it could be the big dog's turd. Seriously, it's tiny. I call them "The Dane and the Deuce." I do wonder if they are selling the swing that their clothes are hanging on...

Okay, how about some Pic Spam of Kittays and Fud Pr0n )

I had a great time back home last weekend. Got to spend time with my Mom and Daddy #2, and reconnected with my old BFF from post-highschool days. We have been out of touch for almost 15 years and it was a welcome, and much needed, reunion.

I was hoping the crap sale would have folded by the time I finished this, but alas, like Ceine Dion's heart, it goes on...

Mrs CB and I went to see my BFF's production of Eurydice last night. It was really good and the set design was phenominal! I have seen more shows in the past year than I have in the past decade. Now I jusy need to get to NYC to see a couple shows on Bway.

The other night, we had some unexpected storms that produced the most awesome double rainbow!

Rainbow Marks teh Gay Houses )

And as Cake Week ends for 2011, I must say I am one lucky bitch! Why? Cause I got a gift from...

What a beautiful day! The sun is shining for the first time in a week, I don't have to work, and it's Cinco de Mayo which means margaritas for breakfast! Life is good!I want to thank Asher for letting me sleep past 5:30 this morning. If only the pone hadn't rung at 8:07...

Just finished a five-day run at work. I wish I could invent some "Stupid-B-Gone" Spray and some "Un-Lazy-My-Ass" Lotion for some of my co-workers. And that is all I am gonna say cause I am trying to stay in a good mood.

Cake Week has been lovely. I worked on my birthday, but we are celebrating this weekend. My BFF has directed a play at tOSU theater department, so it looks as tho we will be seeing Sarah Ruhl's "Euryidice" this weekend. A nice meal out although I can't decide on a good steak or good Mexican. I am craving tacos al carbon like Lilo craves coke!

Bummed to hear that our neighbor across the street is leaving this weekend. She has had her house on the market for 18 months with no bids and is filing Chapter 11 to avoid foreclosure. She is a foster mom and said that the county is reworking the criteriea for puling kids from their homes, so she doesn't have as many kids as before. She was really good with them too! Mrs CB used to make brownies for them at the holidays. Hope we don't get another Burning Bush in there.

Our other "problem" neighbors moved out last month and apparently they took all the appliances, ac unit, and copper with them. The guy that owns the place actually apologized to us for how awful they were. I just hated that the kids made me become that cranky lady next door yelling, "Get you ass back in your own yard!" He also took down the fence that divided our yards-it had been hit hard durring Hurricane Ike 2.5 yrs ago and was in need of replacing. If he doesn't replace it, I think we will put something up on our side.He has talked to three neighbors here and all three have told him to choose better renters next time. Gonna be a while till he can get the insurance money to replace what was taken. We live in a ghetto area of the city, but our little neighborhood is actually quite nice. And if we don't like you, we will run your ass out, lol.

Fandom news- Loving "The Good Wife"! Gonna start "The Killing" this weekend. But first, I am finishing up the winning bid for help_japan with this updated vidding program. It has stop-motion animation on it now!!! I shall become the new Rankin/Bass!!!! BTW, they have "Mad,Monster Party" on Netflix now....yay!

Okay peeps, peace out.

After a crazy day of storms yesterday, today is really beautiful! Crazy windy and a little too cool to open the windows, but nice all the same.

Mrs CB is currently performing in the final show of her play. Glad she will be beginning her spring break without that particular committment. While she is acting away, I am making my first meal in the Le Creuset- my chicken breast for burritos. Chicken, chili-ready tomatoes, onions, roasted red peppers-slow baking away. Smells delicious!! I'll add corn for the last half-hour and then shred up the chicken. Serve with tortillas, avacado and sharp Cabot cheddar. And possibly some tequila.

Also gonna TRON it tonight. Looking around for the original TRON got me thinking about some of the movies I watched growing up that I REALLY want to see again. So I worked my Google-Fu and have copies of the following coming to me. IMDB.com won't link properly, but you can look them up there if you wish:

1. "The Runner Stumbles"- As some of you know, I have a unique fascination with nuns. I think this is why. A Young Kathleen Quinlan plays a hot, HOT nun, people!! Nuns + Affairs + Murder = Big impression on a young CB's mind. I used to skip school when I knew it was gonna be on (days before VCRs). Why couldn't my Catholic school have had hot nuns like Sister Rita? Best thing is it introduced me to KQ and I have followed her career over the decades.

2. "Something for Joey"- As a college football lover, I remember watching this on TV and just sobbing with both happiness and sadness. And JoePa on TV? What could be wrong? I remember when Joey's hair grew in curly after his chemo. And Beastmaster was so adorable as big brother John. Loved this movie!

3. "Something Evil"- An early Spielberg film, I distinctly remember 2 things about this movie: Young Johnny Whitaker and Evil Redness in a mason jar. This flick used to freak me out more than "The Others" and that movie was FREAKY!!Seriously! I can't even look at a jar of homemade strawberry jam without thinking of this movie.

and finally...the ultimate film from my childhood. I remember not wanting to go watch 4th of July fireworks because this movie was on. And it was the Bicentennial!!

4. "Crowhaven Farm"- Witches, boards, large rocks, Hope Lange!!! My supernatural loving baby dyke self was in heaven with this movie. Or was that hell...mwahahahahaha. I must have watched this thing 20 times growing up. I still remember a few key scenes, but I am most anxious to watch the entire thing in it's 70ish badness. I blames this for my love of Salem witchcraft lore. And The Wednesday Witch book by Ruth Chew for which my search continues.

So peeps, what are some movies that you enjoyed watching as a kid that you would love to see again?

What a weekend! I haven't seen my mom since before Christmas even though we only live 100 miles apart. Between me getting hosed at work over the holidays, a very bad winter in her part of the state, my back and Daddy #2's health, we just haven't been able to make it happen. We sure as hell made up for it this weekend!

My mom arrived about 3:30pm On Friday. The next 48 hours were a whirlwind of shopping, eating, cooking, more shopping, and a little bit of local theater. It was a blast, but damn, she wore me out! I slept almost 11 hours last night.

It started with gifts: my early birthday and Christmas 2011 gifts were some Le Creuset cookware (in cobalt blue).I'll never be as good as [livejournal.com profile] heathers, but I do like to cook. And I can't wait to try preparing Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon for Easter (Mrs. CB gave up pork for Lent and there is bacon in this recipe.)

The MamaCB and I headed out to Brio so she could have her Lobster Bisque. We had a delightful meal then poked around at a couple stores in the mall. I found a beautiful corduroy/micro plush reversible comforter and hesitated on buying it. The first comforter we got for our queen bed was a steel blue corduroy/non reversible and I loved that damn thing. After 9 years or wear and tear, and cats, we finally tossed it this past autumn. I have been searching for MONTHS for something similar, so when I found this I thought it was too good to be true. So on the way out of the store, I decided to get it. You should have seen the look on my face when I saw the price ring up at 50% off! What a freakin deal!! And it looks so pretty on the bed, covered in cats..

MamaCB and Mrs CB also gave input on my Big Decision 2011. My crackberry has been having battery issues, so I decided to check what was available for upgrade. The only two I was interested in were the LG Optimus S Android and the Blackberry Style. After trying to type in a touch screen, I decided to go with the Blackberry. It had to have been something watching my mom and myself trying to type as we struggled seeing with our trifocals and bifocals respectively. Anyway, I liked the look and feel of the phone, and it dropped in price from $49.99 to Free over the past week, so I ordered it last night. It also has a better camera for all my food pr0n. Yay new phone!!!

When Mama CB visits, it is a given that we will hit every gourmet grocery/food store in the area. I think we hit about 7 while she was here, and at east 1 of those twice. My feet have still not recovered, lol. But she found all of the goodies she was looking for including fresh Pappardelle pasta and Sweet Italian sausages for Daddy #2. I have been tasked with finding dried red peppers that she can put in her olive oil bottle...also purchased on one of our trips. She's not Italian, but damn, she can cook like she is!

One of the reasons she came to visit was to see Mrs. CB perform in a local theater production. Here is a trailer for "The Male Animal". Not only is Mrs. CB performing, but a close friend directed. MamaCB LOVED it! While she has been to a couple of the touring Broadway productions, she hasn't seen a local play since my sibs and I were in highschool. We really had a blast. I can't wait to go visit in a few weeks.

And that has been our weekend. Mrs CB has another 4 shows this Thurs-Sun then she is on Spring Break. In May, I will start taking Fridays off instead of Mondays. It will be just like when I started on LJ...Fridays full of mundane crap from [livejournal.com profile] cabenson again, lol. Interesting stuff happening at work. Was asked to work on 2 other projects which I hope will lead to a department shift in July when the fiscal budget kicks in. Keep your fingers crossed!!

I'm on day 3 of my four-day weekend. Makes working last weekend SO worth it. In May, it appears that I will be exchanging my Mondays off for Fridays off. It will be just like it was before I started this job five years ago. Can't believe it has been that long already. That means that soon Helen Stewart will be paid off...my car, people, my car. I bought her a few months after I started the job.

This past week,I worked mith my manager and the lab manager on creating a video of their powerpoint presentation. They were very vocal with their appreciation for not only the tech skills I brought but also helping them create the narrative. Hopefully this will bode well with my review next month. I would trade a new position for a sizable raise ANY day.

Mrs CB and I have decided to have a Stay-cation this summer. We are thinking about reading and relaxing as well as checking out some restaurants in town that we have been dying to try. I already have a stack of books lined up. We may even put the pool up on the back patio.

In fandom news, [livejournal.com profile] ralst is having an Unfinished Business Challenge to celebrate 10 years of Passion and Perfection.I know PLENTY of you probably have stuff sitting on your hard drives, waiting for a reason to be completed. This is your opportunity to get it done!

I have several unfinished projects to choose from, but I think I have narrowed it down to completing one of the following:

1. The Dating/Destruction of Callie and Hahn which is the sequel to The Gaying of Callie and Hahn- Callie/Erica, Grey's anatomy

2. Updating the Ship Manifesto The Case of the Butch and the Blonde and completing the Hoyay Hal of Fame- Alex/OLivia, L&O:SVU. This would require watching those last eps when Cabot came back and they used her character so badly. It may be to painful to complete.

3. Working on Progression which would probably involve, at a minimum, re-writing the last part of Chapter 2. Who leaves a couple hanging over CHEESEBURGERS?!!!!

So, thoughts?

Have you missed pics of our boy Greyson and Food Pron? Then I have a small sample to tide you over til I have more time:
