It's 8:25 pm and I have just finished off a delicious bottle of Malbec.

Oh, and I am a little drunk.

I am sitting here in my home office, drinking coffee and eating PopTarts while the kitties enjoy the last few minutes of open windows before I shut them all and turn the AC back on. Why am I home? Today is Doomsday for Mrs. CB. In three hours, we will be checking her in at Outpatient Services for a butt-tubing. That's right people, she's having a colonoscopy and it can't be over soon enough -for either of us. And the patient prep for this procedure? Yeah, I'm not even gonna go there.

I will be playing the role of dutiful spouse (at least while she is conscious)and taking care of things at Casa Cabenson today. Therefore, I ask you to keep BOTH of us in your thoughts today as usually, I am the one being taken care of.

Had a disturbing dream this morning after Feline Alarm Cat finally realized that I was NOT getting up. I dreamed that we were taking my oldest niece to college, and when we got there we realized that she had nothing. Her parents had given her nothing-no food, no money for books, no computer, NOTHING. So me, Mrs CB, MamaCB and Niece were scrambling all over this huge, unfamiliar city trying to get her what she needed to get started. What does all this mean? Probably that she will be living with us her freshman year at The Ohio State University, providing she still wants to go there. We have two years....we have two years.

What else is happening? I am having more good days than bad days with the asthma, but they all seem to get worse as the day progresses. The lack of breathing makes exercising difficult, so I an going to try the yoga thing again and see if I can at least keep my spine stretched out.

Mrs CB returns to school next Monday and is wildly excited about being at a new school. I am wildly excited about her having other adults to talk to, because after 8 hours on the phone, I am not so into talking. Don't get me wrong, I love where I work, but anymore, I just hate telephones. I cringe when they ring at home, and that makes me think I shouldn't be in customer service.

In the fandom world, I may have one last fic to roll out before the new season starts. I am going to work on it some today while the wife is getting hosed. I have 2 vids in my mental queue, but they have taken a backseat as I have to actually sit at my PC to do them- stoopid back. I also need to get my fics moved over to my fic journal/comm so I can keep this place for my more mundane musings...and Fair Pics.

I need to come up with my annual "New Shows/Returning Shows I can't Wait to See" list- maybe next time.

Anyway, time to close up the windows. I have to admit, that since my snothole surgery 6 mos ago, my allergies have hardly bothered me, even when the atmosphere is "dripping with ragweed pollen" /NBC4 Weatherman. Of course my lungs have given out, but hey, a win's a win!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I spent more time up and about this weekend than I have in months. It felt good, but as always, I was tempted to do things I know I am not ready to do. At least Mrs. CB knows better. Today is a "rest" day, per her wishes to not keep repeating this back thing every 2 years. And yet, I am still up.

We went shopping Saturday so I could spend the b-day gift cards and cash that have been burning holes in my pockets. I grabbed Season 7, 8, and 9 of The X-Files while Mrs CB picked up Season 2 of Millennium and a Lillithfair DVD. (I never made it to Lillithfair. Do I still get to keep my dyke card?)

Sunday was just beautiful. Sunny, just warm enough, and a nice breeze. I made up some Teriyaki Chicken Kabobs and decided to grill them out doors. Eyebrows and eyelashes grow back, right? That sweet breeze turned into a 25 mph gust and blew flames toward my face. Thank god I had my hair in a ponytail. And now I don't have to pay for that eyebrow waxing.

Yesterday was lovely as well. Mrs CB finished up her gardening and spent the rest of the day writing up her final exams (10 sciencey essay questions?! Somean)while I read/watched TV. I got up to grab a drink and walked in on this:

Bad Kitty )

I think I'll grab a shower and then take a walk with the camera. We have a "Superstition" Iris almost open-it is a black iris and my absolute fave.

I forgot to mention in this entry that The Burning Bush was wearing just a towel on her head, thus subjecting Mrs. CB to yet another nude shot o'plenty.

About 5:00 yesterday morning, while enjoying her morning tea and watching the early news, Mrs CB happened to look out our picture window to see Teh Burning Bush walking through her brightly lit living room in nothing but a towel.A WHOLE LOT of nothing. When she told me about it yesterday evening, I nodded my head sympathetically as I checked her eyes for damage, then asked, "But does she have nice tits?" :headswat:

I guess this pain medication is working. I was a lot more mobile today and even ventured outside while Mrs CB was trying to remove some forsythia bushes from the garden.

Garden Talk )

Vicoden is a strange painkiller. While it helps my manage the discomfort, I was hit with nightmare after nightmare last night. The kind where you have to force yourself awake just to make them stop. And I tried to keep myself from going back to sleep. I almost went into the spare room and slept with Mrs CB (who was letting me have the bed to myself so I wouldn't kick her with my spasms could stretch out) because I was THAT freaked out. Maybe [livejournal.com profile] aqua_blurr can lend her wank to it.

Last night was the first time that Mrs. CB and I have been out since the Columbus Smoking Ban was enacted. And it was GREAT!! To wake up this morning and not a)reek of smoke and booze or b)have a sinus headache from all the smoke was a treasure.

We went to get groceries today, one of those "Let's stock the cupboards" kind of trips. It's funny hoe Crunch-n-Munch Butter Toffee always seems to sneak into the cart when we aren't looking. And nothing makes shopping more fun than speculating on the conversations that go on between our 5 cats. Greyson has such a gay boy lisp...

If this is true, then should we expect "no hockey" every time the Red Sox win the Series?

I wonder what [livejournal.com profile] theholyinnocent thinks.

And I'd like to add a heartfelt thank you to everyone for your kind words and :hugs: in response to the death in our family. Mrs. CB and I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Damn it is cold. It was -3(F) when I left for work with a -20(F) windchill. I have yet to get warm. Okay, I am ready for spring.

Rant Warning )

And Mrs. CB lost at poker while I won. That's the way it usually goes. The chili and cornbread were hits as was the yellow cake with milk chocolate frosting...which I am going to sample very soon.

Other news, my Buckeyes won again!! Still #3 in the AP poll.

Okay, time for cake.

Yeah, so you know your day is going to be a total suckfest when you open your car door and find all the stuff that is usually inside the armrest compartment sitting in the driver's seat. And the Red Bull Beanie Baby (cause I am a fiery Taurus) that usually sleeps beneath the stereo is thrown against the stick shift. Nothing was stolen. Apparently, the person who ransacked my car does not appreciate my taste for Broadway soundtracks and 80's compilations. Or they could not find my CD's mixed among the Poptart and Payday wrappers. See Mrs CB? Being a little messy is a good thing.

On the flip side of criminal activity, I bought a bootleg copy of a recent production and it arrived yesterday. It makes me feel kinda dirty, but it's okay. I like it.

It's snowing again. Another clipper. (I know [livejournal.com profile] theholyinnocent...electoral armageddon.) We are expecting another 4-6" as well as ice in Saturday. I hope it is shitty out that day. We are hosting poker and I really don't want to. However, if it's nice, I will be making chili and jalapeno cornbread. And margaritas.

Finally, my big guy, Smokey, has an eye infection. That's right folks, we have a pussy pussy in the house. When the wife gets home, we are taking him to the vet. Poor guy. And he is the only one in the house that is really watching the idiots on inagural parade. Nice to see W decided to go with the limo. Pussy!

I cleaned off my desk in the office today by stuffing my research into the filing cabinet. The cats are thrilled that their "perch" is open again and there is room for them to play. I must say that I enjoy sitting here when one of them is sleeping on top of the hutch, dangling a little paw over the side. Then one of them will jump up on the keyboard right as I am posting something and fuck it all up.

OSU Women's b-ball started tonight. We have season tix and enjoy a sweet view of the young, firm hotties team. We are picked to finish first in the Big Ten and the girls showed definite promise tonight. I was also tackled by the big dude sitting next to us. They were tossing t-shirts to the crowd during a time out and one sailed my way. I reached up as high as I could and actually had my fingers on it when this guy (who was trying to do the same) fell into me. I then fell into Mrs CB who fell into the empty seat. We all stood up and laughed our asses off until I realized that the coveted t-shirt had eluded me again. I should have kicked the dude in his balls. Oh well, Sunday is another game and another chance.

Other news and stupid stuff. Gawd, I wish we had more public transportation. The ghetto Subaru was in the shop again only to find us making another appointment to have the heater/ac unit (that was replaced in August) checked. Mrs CB has nothing but hot air for three days, then no heat at all. A little hard to defrost those windows before she heads off to teach. Before anyone asks, no, she CANNOT drive my car. Not because I don't want her to, but because I have a stick shift and she doesn't know how to drive one. And she ain't learning on my car.

I got my camera and printer all set up and hope to take my meme pics tomorrow. I think The Burning Bush may be hibernating...haven't seen (or heard) her all week.
Not much else going on. Now that Teh Essay is done, I need to tackle that "do-it-or-else" list that has been growing every week. So if you don't hear from me, I'm in my basement cleaning my tool bench.

What a BEAUTIFUL day! And because it is so beautiful, I have been guilted in to working outside on the house instead of sitting here, researching and playing. I agreed, but insisted that we needed to go to Lowe's first. $100 worth of caulk, paint, painting supplies and gardening shit later, I have become...The Caulk-Master. I finished cleaning away the old caulk on the concrete window ledge, scraped the mother down, and laid a beautiful bead of caulk to seal her up. Bitch asked for a cigarette when I was done. Now...the interior windows.

And there was another sighting of The Burning Bush this afternoon. For those that have never heard this tale, allow me to start at the beginning. One lazy, early summer Sunday morning, I was pulled from my bed by Mrs CB's cries, "My eyes. my eyes!!" Running down the hall, as much as I can run, I breathlessly asked what was wrong. She explained that she had been innocently sitting on the love-seat that faces a rather large picture window, reading the comics. She looked up for the briefest of moments to witness the house dress of the 800lb redhead that lives across the street flying ...upward. Trying to decide whether to laugh or cry, Mrs CB stated that it appeared that she was indeed, a true redhead. Taking in to account this neighbor's propensity to scream obscenities at her spouse and or children at any time during any day (Mother's Day we heard, "Don't FUCK with me, this is MY day!!), we have nicknamed her "The Burning Bush".

And yes, it was a bit breezy today. And bleach in your eyes DOES sting a bit.

Off to do more caulking...painting comes tomorrow.

Brrrrr. It seems that Ivan has waved his skanky hand over Columbus, and like most big acts, found a bigger and more exciting place to be. It rained unbelievably hard on my way home from The Hell Lab. Could barely make out the other vehicles on the freeway and eventually wussed out and took a slower route home. And it got COLD!! Sure, the temp says it's sixty-two degrees, but factor in 25 mph winds and 30 mph gusts...and it feels like early December. A quick glance at the radar shows a line of severe storms from Ivan crossing NC...hope my sister has enough common sense and gets her brood out of the double wide and into a shelter.

:chants "I love my basement, I love my basement":

Weird happenings in Casa Cabenson. First I shut both PC's completely down last night about 8:00pm because we thought there might be storms. But...it seems my Yahoo stayed on...hmmm. Then, I come home from work and find a "False Alarm" notice on the door. The security alarm went off (scaring the cats so badly that they still had fluffy-tail when I got home 4 hours later) and I assumed that Mrs CB had been running late for school and hadn't pulled the door completely shut...like she has done a few other times. There is nothing like being in your bed the day after having spinal surgery and jumping out when the alarm goes off...bet that surgery doesn't take. Anyway, Mrs CB claims she left about 10 minutes before the alarm went off...hmmm. And finally, after calming the boys down (with canned kitty food), I pick up the phone and the line goes dead...mid-dial. WTF?! I think we have a poltergeist. Anyone know how to get hold of that short "Into the light, Carol Anne" chick to get rid of it?
