Yes, my bitches, it's that time of year again. I had yesterday off for working last weekend, and since I woke up seemingly recovered from yet ANOTHER asthma attack, we headed off to the fair.

On the way, I told Mrs. CB that she need to drive faster, cause I was starving. She offered to stop at a drive thru. Dude, we do NOT waste tummy space on Baconators when there is deep fried stuff on a stick just a few miles away.

I originally thought about doing another theme pic spam, but there was just nothing cathcing my eye, so this image-heavy post is a combo of:

What not to wear to the fair (clothes and hair),Fun fair stuff, and Fair food )

Well, it would appear that I have recovered from my late-night drinking/chatting session with [livejournal.com profile] aqua_blurr. I hate that Cabernets give me a small migraine. I was drinking Veramonte and it was smooth. Too smooth. And I ate all the chocolate as well. I really am getting to old to stay up past 11:00pm.

In other news, Mrs CB presented her thesis research paper today and grad school can officially kiss her ass. We celebrated by going to the mall where I did not yell at anyone. I did however glare menacingly at an assjerk who cut in front of me at Cheryl's Cookies. We'll be following this story as it continues to unfold.

I made a delicious dinner: Ginger Jerk Marinated Chicken, Asparagus and Rice Pilaf. Tomorrow, I am making home-made Loaded Baked Potato Soup. I'll be taking requests until Friday when Cabenson's Kick-Ass Chili will be making a special return visit.

I bought the cats an early Christmas Present. I found a pet sofa, about 2 feet long, and it even folds out. And it was CHEAP! The boys love it, as you can see

here )

Okay...now I am off to read over a story for a friend. And eat some creme brulee.

We went to the International Festival and proceeded to eat our way around the world. Mrs. CB started with samosa (not Samoas...they are Girl Scout cookies) from a Pakistani booth. I hit the Mediterranian booth and walked away with a veggie platter that consisted of hummus, pita, falafel, sliced veggies and tabbouleh. Mrs CB took the tabbouleh-the fresh parsley is a potential migraine trigger and I realized it only after taking a bite. Damn head!

We continued through the displays and picked up Veggie fried rice, veggie egg roll, Bubble tea (a cold chai drink with rice bubbles), Scandinavian Salmon Chowder (for Mrs CB...I HATE fish!), Macedonian Custard Cake and my new favorite, Filipino Sweet Rice. I got two more seet rice(es?) and a Scandinavian coffee bread to go.

We enjoyed checking out the crafts and wares for sale. Last year I bought two CDs from a Chilean Panpipe group...very soothing. This year, I stopped at a "Save the Rhino" foundation and bought a "Save a Horny Friend T-shirt." I won't be wearing that one to work. I also came across the best homeade bracelet evah!
I am not one for wearing bracelets, but I'll make an exception for this one. Check it out:
appropriate, don't ya think? )

And shit...I am STILL hungry!

There is a beautiful blue October sky out today, so Mrs CB and I made the most of it. She finished cleaning up the gardens and planted the last of the tulip bulbs, including the 18 she got at poker last night (again, I was the big winnah!!). Since it was warm enough to wear shorts out (which had been my excuse for procrastinating), I decided to decorate for Halloween. I made 7 new tombstones and put them around the house. I admit, I got a little more political than normal with "RIP Sybil Wrights", "RIP N.O.Scents", and "RIP Big O. Tree". Had some fun as well with "Ima B. Otch" and a couple others. I put the Jack-O-Lantern lights along the sidewalk that leads to the porch and got out the 7' Funky Frankenstein monster. We got the last of my MKG costume and the candy to hand out to the little bastards darlings that will be gracing the neighborhood Thurs night. Blow Pops for the cool costumes, orange-flavored toostie rolls for the lame ones.

Thought I would include some pics from my last Halloween Party simply because I am putting off working on another project. Enjoy!

What are your thoughts as we remember September 11, 2001?

It's hard to believe that it's "that" time of year again. Three years have passed and my heart has still not fully healed...and I almost hope it never will. No, I didn't lose anyone I knew personally in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the US. But I did lose the chance to meet almost 3000 souls...even more if you count the military and civilian losses we have incurred from the War on Terror.

Those were hard days n the Cabenson household. We even broke our rule of "no TV in the bedroom" in order to follow the stories. I was one of those people that laid in front of the TV for hours, tears in my eyes as I cried for people I never knew...and never would. Ten days later, I finally wrote about it in my journal. I look back on it now and thought I would share it with you.

Ten Days )

When we went to NYC in June, one of the main reasons was to pay our respects to those we lost. Here are some of my memories:

The cross made from beams at Ground Zero...which is now called World Trade Center again.

The sphere from the plaza now a memorial in Battery park

WTC #7...last to fall, first to go back up

Speechless
