NYE in NYC-Day 3 New Year's Eve Part One

Day 1
Day 2

Finally remembering to post these last 2 days:

We started the day with breakfast at Maxie's:

Bacon and Cheese Omelet, NYC style

After breakfast, I decided I was stronger than my fear of heights, and we went to the Top of the Rock for pics. It was cold and windy, but really beautiful!

Central Park

downtown

across the river

and the building where the ball was for the NYE Ball Drop

For lunch, we went to Ellen's Stardust Diner and OMG, what a fun place:

Our waitress was singing

Mrs. CB had the tuna melt

while I had The Elvis...triple decker PB&J with banana

We headed back to the hotel to rest a little (I had shin splints) and watched the Law and Order:Criminal Intent marathon as we prepared for NYE.

The city started preparing early for the mass gathering in Times Square:

Setting up one of the stages

Barricades in place

Streets blocked off

Police build up across the street from our hotel

They serve a peanut butter & jelly sandwich with fries?

Hey, it's the "Elvis." He wasn't know for his health-conscious choices.

Well, health aspect aside, it's an odd combination. :)

Definitely!

The PB was really rich, too. I ate the jelly and bananas

Okay, to the left of The Elvis, it appears that your fork is stained red - did someone try to steal your sandwich???
