Once upon a time...

Wow have I been neglecting this place. I need to do better, and I promise you dear flist, I will try. And by "try" I mean I will probably fail...

But before you all forget me, I must tell you all that I am in love! And yes, Mrs CB is completely, eye-rollingly, aware. Cause my new love? Mayor Regina Mills from ABC's "Once Upon A Time." She has effectively replaced Alex Cabot as Mrs. CB 2 so you know this shit is for realz! Evil, manipulative, incredibly flawed, but still vulnerable and sympathetic. And HAWT!!!! I so love this show! I haven't been actively interested in a fandom since the days of Otalia.

Of course, I am once again dealing with a spinal issue. And when CB's back breaks down, a new fandom interest is never far behind. So while I toil away in PT trying to fire muscles that have been dormant for 7 years, I think about the lovely, evil, Mayor Regina Mills. Think about stories I want to watch and songs I want to vid. Think about spending hours on Tumblr trolling for pics and fic.

And when I get the random bachelor weekend, I re-watch the episodes looking for anything that I might have missed on the first five viewings. Did I mention that I love this show? The entire ensemble is wonderful and I love the little twists we see to the fairy tales we grew up with. Not a huge fan of Jennifer Morrison in this role-she started out bad-ass but then went wimpy. Bad-ass returned the last few eps, but...let's just hope that she (both the actress and the character) grow stronger next season, cause the fireworks when Emma and Regina are together? SMOKING!!! Reminds me of early Helen/Nikki.

So tell me your thoughts on this show/characters/pairings/hopes for season 2. I would love to discuss this with a more intelligent audience, and yes dear flist, I am accusing you of being intelligent :)

In the so-not-intelligent corner, I bring you me, who has yet to watch OUaT. Although I do plan to once my latest obsession has begun to fade (two fandom obsessions at one time cannot fit into my tiny brain), so I'm excited to see that it's captured your inner-fanatic. Will we be seeing a manifesto or video or story any time soon?

Sorry to hear about your back, but hope you're soon on the mend.

Trying to work on a vid or two. Maybe a story for IDF if I get the time. RL work has been imposing on my free time, and I have a 51 yr old teacher to keep amused this summer:)

Back is not as horrific as it has been in years past. Just became aware of an issue resulting from an incomplete rehab 7 yrs ago after last surgery. Already seeing some progress and we have only been at it for a week ")

I've watched the first episode and read a couple of stories but, have to confess, haven't yet seen what all the femslash fuss is all about. I do however have the rest of the first series (or most of it) recorded and will get to it which may help.

I'm therefore offering myself in the intelligent but ill-informed corner, complete with back sympathies as I'm doing an ostrich impression for mine at the moment because it's supposed to be summer damnit (although as I type the heating is on and I'm wearing a fleece indoors!)

Realistically however, I must not start a new fandom until after IDF otherwise ralst will kill me because I won't have written her lady archaeologists into a story for her..... ;-)

Give it a shot. They have a real hate/hate relationship but they give each other these smoldering looks. And the final ep...you just have to watch.

I've been shown the first two episodes (in that someone I know who loves Once sat me down and made me watch them). And, I admit, I was pretty fascinated. So, I've got the rest of the episodes on my hard drive and the summer to catch up with them. I have this problem, though, in seeing the world more black/whiteish. It's a character flaw I'm working on, lol. But because of it, I have trough (after only two episodes, mind you) of seeing past the evilness in Regina. But perhaps as I watch more eps, some grey will filter into my black/white mind. I shall let you know my progress.... :)

As I went through the series, I could see the very subtle and not-so-subtle, vulnerabilities of both Regina and the EQ. Especially Regina. Very layered character and yes, the potential for greyness is there.

CB! Good to hear from you. Sorry about your back, but I can see how your time in PT could benefit all of us here in LJLand, so I'm torn over how speedy I wish your recovery to be. That's a bad thing, innit? No, no, I wish you a speedy recovery, of course. I just hope it doesn't interfere with your latest obsession. Have you read any of heartsways stuff? She's clearly in love with the subtext between Emma and Regina. ;)

Every time I think I'm done with Once Upon A Time, I watch an episode, and then I'm all hooked again. I can't say I'm as in love with the mayor as you are, but I can certainly agree with the hearty dynamics when she and Emma get together. I carry a soft spot for Snow, but not necessarily for Mary Margaret, and I always think I'm going to write something, but it never comes to fruition. Can't say as I'm up to "intelligent" thoughts about the show, but I can probably rant with the best of 'em.

In any case, I'll be anxiously awaiting whatever you come up with.
