Your Aunt Lena was blown up by a drug lord. She has left you a $5 Million inheritence, but only if you use half of it to start a charity. What charity would you start?

My answer: A "second start" charity for to help laid off women become hookers and strippers teachers and nurses.

Shelter for abused children. Or start an initiative to teach kids how to write English the proper way.

Hrm...good question. Probably a foundation or an endowment for socially progressive organizations and activists.

Well, this is an interesting question-and I am afraid my answer will run long... Because I actually did start a charity...a scholarship fund.

We provide scholarships to young women in inner city high schools who are not the track star, the student govt president, the valedictorian but who have overcome a significant obstacle (as identified confidentially by their school's social worker) and remained in school committed to their goal of graduating and enrolling in post H.S. job training or college. We identify these women early enough to assign a mentor to help them remain steadfast to their goal of graduating and completing job training or college. They get a 1 year scholarship and if they meet a few requirements, like pass... they can get another year of tuition.

So, I would use the money to fund more scholarships, because right now: we can only afford about 5 a year. I know, heh heh, TMI :)

i'd build no kill animal shelters and more women's homeless shelters.

i'd start the "a gf for a day" charity for lonely, old dykes.

I'd start a body-positive program that provides love-your-body talk and sex ed to young women. There would be free STD testing, free birth control, fun education programs, and lots of happy girls of all sizes who love their bodies.

And, then I'd pay off my mom's house.

after the shock wore off from my aunt being blown up by drug lords(!!!), I'd start a charity for abused/neglected/exploited kids. Some sort of something for children.

Either that, or maybe some sort of scholarship fund for single mothers trying to support their families by going back to school.

I'd start a charity to promote the works of women artists of all ages. I would want to open a women's coop gallery and create an entire artists' colony around it.
