AJ as Scarpetta ... I don't think so. I love looking at Aj, but she is not Kay Scarpetta, at least not in my mind.

Some peeps have asked my thoughts on Otalia so I am gonna write them up and post them tomorrow or this weekend. Still loving the sl which says a lot for me at the moment.

Yes. My thoughts exactly. I heard this yesterday and was so disappointed. I love the Scarpetta books and they could be awesome movies but no way is Angelina Scarpetta. Just, no.

What I want to know is who gets cast as Lucy Farinelli. But yeah, AJ gets a complete fail as Scarpetta. Isn't there someone else who can play a fortyish blond?

I think that I would make the perfect Scarpetta--if she's nerdy.

Anywizzy, I'd love to read your thought on Otalia. I'd been getting frustrated with Pod!Natalia but it looks like she's finally showing some backbone again.

i suspect that the movies will not revolve around the era of the books, but in fact may plumb the time before "post mortem" when kay was younger (which means no lucy, unfortunately) either that, or they'll use the books as "inspiration" in the way that Bones somewhat resembles the original, but isn't really a direct leap.

and while that's a bad thing regarding the first few scarpetta books, i'd say given how unreadable the last few were that it's a good thing. (i still can't get through blow fly)

Okay. I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me. But I'm glad she got cast in the role. Was she my first choice? No. I actually thought Charlize Theron would get the role or something. But...the woman was talking about never doing movies again and retiring. and I love me some AJ. My poor little heart would have broken had she never done another movie. So I'll probably still go out and see the movie, even though I know it may not be as good as the books. Because honestly, when is the movie ever better than the book?

Wow, i think that was HORRIBLY mis-cast. For one thing, When i think of Scarpetta, I think of someone who looks a lot more like Patricia herself. I don't doubt AJ's acting ability, but there is something to be said for looks, and I agree with you, she doesnt' 'look' like I think Scarpetta looks.

i saw that yesterday and went "oh HELL no" at my computer....
