seeing a surgeon. We went to get the dressing changed on my back only to find the doc was out of packing material. She took a look at the wound and gave me two choices: have a CT scan and waste time, or see a surgeon ASAP. The second round of antibiotics are not working and the abscess is not healing. Apparently, it is very deep and funnel shaped, going sideways across my back with the "point" of the funnel at the wound opening and the "bell" of the funnel growing deeper. She is worried that the abscess may be attached to something in my innards. I bet a million dollars its scar tissue-the abscess goes right across my incision site. And the fever I have been running for 10 days won't fucking go away.

So we'll go back tomorrow to get the dressing changed and she expects that the surgeon will see me early next week. I'd like to say that this doesn't bother me, but it does. I have no idea what caused the cyst to abscess. I have no idea why these drugs aren't working. It doesn't really bother me that this is happening, just that it's happening "right now". I am 2 weeks away from ending my "new job 90 days" thing (thank god my insurance started the first day of employment) and while my boss has been bend-over backwards great about this, I still worry that it could be held against me, And poor Mrs. CB thought she would have a relaxing summer and now she is back to hauling my fat ass all over town to see doctors.

In other news, I told Mr. CB that I may have found my "work crush". She wanted to know why it's taken so damn long :)

Crap, crap, crap!

Try not to worry about the extraneous stuff and do what your doctor tells ya.

And thank God for Mrs. CB. You sure hitched your wagon to the right gal there, eh?

Now how ya gonna make it up to her? [giggle]

Dude, I know it's gross, but that sounds like a great case for maggot treatment. It's a procedure used overseas, and I've seen several studies that show amazing results; people have saved their limbs using maggots to clean out deep, infectious wounds when nothing else worked. Unfortunately, I don't think docs in the US go for it. It's too bad really, because it sure would beat going under the knife again.

Ack. : / That sucks, dude, and I'm really sorry to hear it. I hope the surgeon can take care of the matter, though, and salvage the rest of your summer. It is bad timing wrt your job, but I don't think they're going to resent you, so long as you do your job well (and it sounds like you are).

I think it'll be OK at your job. People are usually understanding regarding medical situations- I mean it is clear you are under the care of a doctor. Further, I really hope that your recovery is rapid enough that you are able to enjoy some of the summer.

Ah, you found a work crush... how cute!

Sorry to have to say this girl but I think you need to be hospitalized. If nothing else for IV anitbiotics. I know 3 other people that have gotten asbesses this year and all of them became septic. I can't understand why your doctor didn't slap your sexy ass in the hospital from the very begining.

i hope you feel better soon.

Paging Dr. Sumeroff

I'm so sorry to here of your PID(pus in dere). I'm sure that your work will understand. I mean, it's not like you are getting cosmetic surgery or a bunion fixed. Sounds like you need a generous I&D to drain that mutha. Hopefully, your nurse will continue to take good care of you.
