Seventies Child

We celebrated the third anniversary of the "Twins" coming to live with us today. The boys had Fancy Feast Tuna, the wife and I had ice cream sundaes. Kinda bittersweet because that was also the day we had to put my female cat, Blue, down. Also bittersweet, because May 22 was the day my grandma passed away. I decided to write about her, but feel free to skip it.

Mrs. CB took my sweet Bruin to the vet yesterday for his annual check up and shots. When Bruin came home, Smokey, his snuggle-buddy, started growling at him. Why? Because Bruin smells like the vet and it was the ev01 vet that took his balls away. Poor Bruin. Maybe one of the other boys will give him a bath. And to think I didn't want kids ;)

My mom is coming to town for a seminar and we are going to try and meet her for dinner. I have been ordered by the wife to rest today, but damn I am bored. I guess I'll try and finish my book.

And can I just say, my back itches like crazy? omgleiktehfireof1000suns!!!11!1!1!

I came home around noon today. The surgery lasted an hour-she took a "huge chunk" of vertebra out- and I can now walk. I had a longer time in post-op because my heart rate was up and a little out of sync-probably have to add that to my maintenance list. But I lucked out and had a private room on a newly redone floor of the hospital that is dedicated to Spinal Conditions.I got to watch TBJ while I nibbled on Graham crackers and sipped on Sprite.

My mom has made me a German Chocolate cake and is now making Chicken Parmigiana. She and Mrs CB have gotten along wonderfully the past two days- I almost hate to see Mom leave tomorrow. They took me for a walk around the house and into the garden so I could see what has bloomed the last few weeks when I was stuck in bed.

Thanks for all the well wishes, thoughts and prayers. I should be back to my snarky self in a few days.

I got a call from my sister yesterday. My brother-in-law left for his second deployment to Iraq and she was upset. Unfortunately, I was at the vet with Mr. Goopy Eye and All I got was a tearful message.

So we will try to keep in touch with him via e-mail and find out what they need and send as much as we can. Our Blue Star Banner will go back in the window and we'll devote more time to reading and watching the news about troop movements.

As much as I say I don't support Bush and this war, I often fail to mention that I most definitely support the troops.

I am finishing up at work today when I get a phone call. From my mother. I looked at the calendar and realized that she is right on schedule. From the moment that she sang, "Ceee-Beee, it's your favorite mommeeeeee," I knew I was about to be charged with the task of finding The Elusive Christmas Gift. In her thought process, what can't be found in the mall back home MUST be available in Columbus. So it looks like I will be shopping for Christmas dishes this weekend. If I don't get "Harlots of Hudson Place" done by the holidays...blame my mom.

I inherited a number of traits from my mother: her ability to cook (home-made noodles are da bomb!), her quick temper, her colorful language, and her sense of humor. God help the poor sonofabitch that gets caught in the middle of this mother/daughter tag team.

I was talking with Daddy #3 who is a conservative Republican...Texan. To my surprise, he didn't gloat about the election. Just said that he's glad it's over and agreed that anti-gay marriage bans are equal to legalized discrimination. He's learning, slowly but surely.

I asked who he thought the Democratic Nominee would be in 2008. With absolutely no hesitation he said Hillary Clinton.

Anyone else agree with this?

I am thinking we need a nominee to run on Teh Harem Ticket. theholyinnocent has nominated Teresa Heinz Kerry and Martha Stewart. Start submitting your 2008 Dream Teams. I believe the nomination convention will be held in...Canada. Suggestion for convention locations will also be appreciated.
