I was assigned the letter “H” by Her Hautiness,
theholyinnocent, so in no particular order:
1. Hallelujah- Rufus Wainwright. I first heard this song on The West Wing when the secret service agent played by Mark Harmon was killed. I also like the versions as performed by Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen, and Imogen Heap, but this version from the Shrek soundtrack has always been my favorite.
2. Hands-Jewel. “In the end, only kindness matters” is a credo we should all live by. There is also a wonderful Janet Frasier video made with this song.
3. Happy Home- Antigone Rising. A wonderful song about unrequited love.
4. Harper Valley PTA- Jeannie C. Riley, Martina McBride (Dersperate Housewives Soundtrack). Nothing like a smalltown smackdown to get the blood pumping. I still remember the movie they made, I believe it starred Barbara Eden. There was a series a few years later that only lasted one year.
5. Hazard- Richard Marx. “I swear I left her by the river, I swear I left her safe and sound, I need to make it to the river, and leave this old Nebraska town.” I was into the angst before it was cool!
6. Heaven Is A Place on Earth- Belinda Carlisle. 1980’s girl band “The Go Go’s” Nuff said.
7. Helensez- I have no idea who made this so if you do, please let me know so I can credit them properly. An amusing little ditty featuring my favorite Scottish McMidget, Helen Stewart.
8. Here Without You (acoustic)-3 Doors Down. I got hooked on this song when I watched an Alex/Olivia video. Perfect post-“Loss” angst-o-rama.
9. A Home- Dixie Chicks. Such a haunting song about regretting not taking a chance on love. “Now everyday I wake again in a house that might have been a home.”
10. Hold My Hand- Hootie and the Blowfish. This song holds so many pre-Mrs. CB memories of pain (back-my first round of physical therapy) and angst (unrequited love for a straight girl).
Pretty much everyone on my flist has done this, but if you haven’t, and you want a letter, let me know in the comments.
Also, if anyone is interested in the songs, I can upload them tonight when I get home from The Job.
