It's that time of year when I reflect back on the things for which I am thankful.
In no particular order:
I am thankful for Mrs. CB. I have never known anyone so loving, generous, patient and beautiful in my life. Without her, I would be no one.
I am thankful for a solid, well-built home that hasn't drained us financially. I am thankful that my renovations are still holding up and that I have no more scheduled until the spring. I hope we have a long winter.
I am thankful for my five furry fellows. Each one of them brings something different into our lives, yet they all leave the same hairballs.
I am thankful that I work in a field that I absolutely love. I would be MORE thankful if I didn't have to work with a bunch of whiny bitches. And got paid more, fuckers.
I am thankful for our families. I am more thankful that they all live at least 100 miles away. I am also thankful for earplugs.
I am thankful that I live in a country that allows me to express my opinions freely, even though they are seldom in the majority. I don't think I would look good in stocks or chains. I do wish my STATE didn't treat me like a second-class deviant. I am first-class all the way, baby!
I am thankful I decided against joining the nunnery in 8th grade. I have a real problem with authority, poverty, and chastity (not necessarily in that order.)
I am thankful that I am healthy. I am not 100% and will never be free of pain, but I am better off than so many others that I feel I shouldn't complain. I am thankful that I have found writing to be a healthy respite and I hope it will continue. I am thankful that my strong will has helped in the rehab (physical, booze will come eventually, I’m sure) during the past 18 months.
I am thankful for my Irish/German/Native American heritage as it explains my desires for booze, arguing, portly women and...MAIZE! I am thankful for my height even if it means elderly women hitting on me at the grocery just so I’ll get the soup on the top shelf for them. It’s always good to be wanted.
I am thankful for the French, but only because of Mr. Pinot and Le Beaujolais. That's it!
I am thankful I stumbled across LJ and started a journal. I am initially very shy in RL, but have found it easy to make friends on-line. I am also glad that I am notsoattractive to the weirdos. You know who you are.
I am thankful for my friends, both RL and on-line. I have "met" some wonderful people across the globe, people who don't mind if I ask questions about their country/city. I am most especially thankful for Teh Harem gals as they make me laugh. Nude photos would make me more thankful, bitches ;)
I am thankful that I found my sense of humor again even if it meant sacrificing my sense of propriety.
I am thankful to be writing something other than checks after a 20 year hiatus. I am also thankful that I look so hott for my age, because you know, I do.
I am thankful that I have faith in mankind to eventually do the right thing. I wish I could be thankful for our government, but that’s asking for too much.
I am thankful I finally found a decent recipe for home-made meatballs. I am also thankful that Mrs. CB doesn’t cook.
I am thankful that my love for theater has been enhanced with two trips to NYC this year. I will be thankful to anyone who bitchslaps me for reading “Wicked” femslash. I don’t need a new OTP. I am also thankful that the majority of the original Broadway cast will be in the movie version of “Rent”. Because I am a shallow bitch.
And finally, I am thankful that I am allowed to have a faith in God, but not the Church, and not have to explain myself to anyone. I am also thankful that I am able to respect other people’s opinions, especially those that differ from mine. I guess I have finally grown up.
