I am STILL pissed about the firing of Brooke Smith from Grey's Anatomy. I want to know the REAL reason she was let go. And it wasn't some crap about the storyline-she was fired mid-September, before the Season Premiere even aired.

I say we send leaves in protest.

And get out and vote, peeps. Then contact ABC in protest.

I saw your comment on AfterEllen, and I totally agree with you. Brooke Smith's Erica Hahn was THE reason I started watching Grey's (when I don't normally watch TV). And thus the reason I will no longer watch the show. Or anything else on ABC. Ever again.

She was fired, in my opinion, because of the image she presented, in addition to the gay storyline. Because her Erica Hahn was strong, brilliant, and unconventionally beautiful in a way that the "ape-men" at the helm of ABC or Disney could never understand nor appreciate.

I'm with you. Hahn is one of the most interesting characters on TV right now. I have loved her since she first appeared on Grey's and the Callie/Erica storyline was just an added bonus. And, it was just really starting to get good. I was so looking forward to seeing their relationship develop. Brooke Smith is an amazing actress and Hahn was a great character. This is such a stupid move on ABC's part. I really want to know what the hell they were thinking. I've already written a short e-mail to ABC and I plan to write a longer more well thought out one when I get home. This is just stupid.

Dude, imagine Simone Lahbib getting fired immediately after macking on Mandana Jones. I was crushed when the Helen/Niki storyline ended,

I am doubly crushed now, because I really thought, with all the GLAAD meetings and such , they were gonna pull this off and do it well.

It does make one appreciate what Bad Girls accomplished--and how many years ago was that now? Shows that the Brits are still ahead of us culturally.

Hopefully if there is enough of a backlash against the show and the network, that might help. ABC needs to be accountable for this.

this is beyond ridiculous. lesbians come in many flavors, not just lipstick. Brooke Smith is beautiful and talented and the character was amazing. Hahn has integrity, unlike Pretty and Prettier. I honestly do not get what is so freaking scary and wrong about a realistic lesbian or gay portrayal on television. It's disgusting that ABC had her promote the damn thing for so long.

Gawd I wish. Someone on Datalounge is claiming that she is a raging bitch with extreme paranoia and a deeply disturbed psyche who can't act and that everyone was glad to see her get canned.
