Ice, Ice, baby
Jan. 31st, 2009 07:29 pmIce hates me. Be it the frozen shit in our driveway or the freshly zamboni-ed ice of the local skating rink, ice really hates me. Wiped out yesterday morning in our driveway as I tried walking to my car. Pretty sure I put a crater in the drive. Today I went ice skating for the first time in about 15 years. Was doing pretty well til my BFF's 11 year old son face-planted and we laughed at him. Next thing you know, I'm kissing ice. Bruised both knees and I think I have pulled every muscle in my body, but it was worth it-we had a blast. Surprisingly, my back feels pretty good. Arms and legs are screaming for flexeril and vicoden, but the back is stable.
It's freaking cold here. Our street is still covered with ice and packed snow. Hope the storm due next week misses us like they are now thinking. I am sick of snow and we have had way more ice than usual this year. I am actually looking forward to summer this year.
I am starting to notice a slight improvement in my breathing. I still have a ways to go, but I think the iron supplements are helping to get my blood count back up. I wasn't out of breath while skating today as much as I was suffering muscle fatigue in my legs. Baby steps.
I also had an ultrasound done of my thyroid gland and they did find a small nodule. Have to follow up with my doc to see if it needs to be dealt with.
LOST and BSG are my TV salvation these past few weeks. We are getting caught up on Big Bang Theory-funniest damn show evah!
Tomorrow I attempt to de-virus the desktop. God help us all.

I've got a multi-nodular goiter that we keep an eye on. Neither my endrocrinologist nor my surgeon is worried at the moment. We just keep testing and medicating. Hope all goes well with yours.

Ice skating was such a feat for me. I've had two major spinal surgeries in the last 6 years and my balance sucks, but it was great!

Date: 2009-02-02 03:33 am (UTC)Hopefully spring will arrive in your area before too long, right? I hate to say it (almost) but it was about 75 in Vegas today. It is the most beautiful time of year here - until those fucking 115-120 degree summer days!
