Valentine's Day 2010
Feb. 14th, 2010 06:23 pmWe had hoped to go out to brunch and do a little window shopping, but as Mrs CB was warming up the car, I was assaulted by a ginormous icicle. Okay, yeah, I started it by knocking them down, but I really thought I was far enough away. Apparently not. A big chunk hit me on the bridge if the nose, busted my lower lip and scraped my chin. Honestly, I was just glad it missed my eyes and my teeth. Aside from a little bruising, it is all good and we were happy with our decision to stay home.
We ordered a 4-course gourmet meal from our favorite local grocery/catering place:

We started with a lovely shrimp cocktail. Their cocktail sauce is to die for!

Then we moved on to a delicious salad...

and a loaf of multi-grained bread.

The main course was chateaubriand with a balsamic pepper demi-glaze, pan seared brussel sprouts with pancetta, and duchess potatoes.

Mrs. CB had a Raspberry Sacher for dessert

while I had a Chocolate Lava Cake with Jeni's Strawberry Buttermilk ice cream.
All was delicious and now I am ready for a nap.
We are expecting another 4-8" of snow tonight and tomorrow (on top of the 15 we already have), then another measurable snow next weekend. Winter, I am seriously done with you. For reals! Mrs. CB has the day off anyway, but I will need to go in. Stupid health profession and sick people ;)
Okay, gonna go finish up my wine and settle in for Pairs Figure Skating on the Olympics tonight.

Date: 2010-02-15 12:17 am (UTC)You do know what I was reminded of when I saw your first 'icicle accident' post, right? ..... You'll shoot your eye out, Ralphie!!! ... I'd wondered if the icicle story was a cover, but now that you've further explained that you started the ice war, I totally believe that it attacked you. Glad you're relatively okay. Now...quit teasing the ice!

Hey... on the ice... you take care. Your poor body!!! Take care matey! I kept worrying the whole time that it might have hurt your back trying to avoid it!
