Birthday 2010
May. 2nd, 2010 04:09 pmYesterday was a lovely birthday! I told Mrs CB that I wanted to wake up to "Balloons, presents and Tim Hortons" and she made it happen. Have to wonder how far she would have gone if I had said I wanted to wake up to "booze, bacon, and Halle Berry-like strippers"...
Had a great visit with the doc the other day and we think we have learned the reason for my chronic illness of the past 2 years: delayed food allergies. Severe allergies to bananas, broccoli, asparagus, pineapple and most seafood. Moderate allergies to CHOCOLATE!!!! and low level allergies to several other grains(surprisingly not wheat or gluten), cheeses, and veggies. Luckily, bacon passed with flying colors.
These food allergens produce the protein IgG which, unlike IgE producers that can be serious or even fatal, cause a series of inflammatory and immune responses. This explains the arthritis-like symptoms that had us stumped since the arthritis tests came back negative. The build up of IgG in my system has also lead to excess fluid production which has made it impossible to lose weight despite increasing my activites and following a diet.
The goal is to remove these allergens from my diet for specific time periods depending on their severity. Get the built up proteins out of my system and then slowly rotate them back in and see how I tolerate them. And that all starts tomoorow cause this weekend?

We started with margaritas at Cantina Laredo-Mrs CB had pommegranate, I had "Cinco"-4 types of tequila plus cointreau tempered with agave nectar. Delish!

Mrs CB had carnita sammiches and sweet potato fries

I had Tacos al carbon-chicken and beef with beans and grilled veggies
Dinner was at a place called Bexley Monk. We wound up there after the place where we had made reservations kept pushing us back. After almost an hour past our time, I pulled out the crackberyy and called the place down the street. They offered to seat us immediately and it was FABULOUS!!!!

Cucumber martini

My friend had a Key Lime martini and gumbo

Her partner has the best hummus and flat bread in the city

Mrs CB and I shared shrimp coctail-last shrimp for me for a few months

BFF had smoked chicken fettuccini in gorganzola sauce

her gal had lamb chops

Mrs CB had diver scallops

and I had steak and fries and shredded brussel sprouts.
dessert included:

chocolate cake

capaccino creme brulee

and an Irish coffee for the wife.
Finished up the evening with...

chocolate martini at Club D where some friends were performing. They got the whole bar to sing Happy Birthday to me. It was awesome!
And did I mention that Mrs CB got me...

a Sock Monkey hat?! What a great day!
