Last Day in the Big City

Ahhh, Easter morning. And what a beautiful day it was. We started with breakfast at Maxie's, a diner around the corner, then returned to Central Park for more pics, and so Mrs. CB could take a leak:

I'm playing a game of "Statues" with a squirrel- the fuzzy little bastard won.

One of the hawks that caused such a big fuss a couple years ago. Gorgeous creature.

Mrs CB: Whoa! Someone must have really laid an egg on stage last night.
Please keep in mind that Mrs. CB has acted in local theater and I am subject to these comments all the damn time .

These two guys were headed for the "Easter Bonnet Parade"...or so they claimed.

Me*** climbing a rock in CP.
***My old health insurance expired on Sat night, so Mrs. CB had me on a tight leash. Therefore, in this pic, the part of CB was played by a stunt person.

"Green Kong" outside of The Tavern on The Green

We're pretty sure that Gwynnie just left Baby Moses alone in the park...

Disney Store as we walked along Fifth Avenue
Okay, for the next set of pics, I need to explain something first. I am a big child. Seriously, that movie Big? I am that character without the benefit of a magical fortune-telling gypsy game. Those who have met me can attest to this. Thereofore, it was with a big squee that I found FAO Schwarz.

Me outside the store, impatiently waiting for it to open.

OMG! Me and the Soldier and The Jungle Guy...and a monkey!!!

Inside the store, first floor

This life-size elephant cost $15,000.00. No I'm not kidding. How big was it?

That's me (holding Bruin 2) standing in frfont of it. With my shoes, I am almost 6' tall.

More life-size stuffed animals as we went to the second floor

The Piano! THE PIANO!!! We could have gotten on it after the Pianomen did their show, but again, I am in-between insurances and teh wife said no :(

WICKED Barbies...SQUEE!

Leggo my Darth Vader...

...and my Chewbacca (not the best lighting)

If you wanted to know what to get me for my birthday...

I came home with a little jaguar that looks almost exactly like my beloved Bruin. Can you tell them apart? I mean, aside from the one who is tagged?
After FAO, we went to the Stage Deli for lunch. You have to wait OUTSIDE and if the man tells you not to move, you better not fucking move. I had a turkey reuben and a root-beer float (no bourbon) and Mrs. CB had a tuna melt-the "Eartha Kitt" if I remember correctly. We could barely eat half of our food. Sandwiches as big as your head!
After lunch, we hurried back to get changed to go to our show, Avenue Q.

I wear jeans everywhere!!!
The show was hilarious! Songs such as: Everyone's a Little Bit Racist, You Can Be as Loud as the Hell You Want (When You're Makin' Love), Schadenfreude, and my fave, The Internet Is For Porn. If anyone wants to hear these, or any of the others, lemme know and I'll hook you up. I would like to say, that I still can't get the images of puppets having hot sex out of my mind...
After the show, the actors came out to collect for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a cause very dear to the hearts of Mrs. CB and myself. They offered an auction that would include 4 autographed show posters, a backstage tour and the opportunity to be photographed with several of the puppets. This particular show was dedicating their collections to help in the battle against breast cancer. I am proud to say that Mrs. CB opened the bidding, and though we didn't win the auction, we did buy four autographed posters. Now I just need to find frames and re-arrange the others we have to make room.
We finished out our time in NYC by taking the Night Loop Tour around the city and over to Brooklyn. It was actually a twilight tour which I preferred because I could see things much better.

MightyCabenson Atlas holding up the world.

Teh Awesome (and scary for a bridgephobe) Brooklyn Bridge!!

Manhattan Skyline from Brooklyn

Mmmm...Big Butts!!!
We had a final fantabulous meal at Ruth's Chris Steak House, more for it's location (right around the corner) and it was great! Big juicy steaks, wine, bread, too bad we were actually too full to get dessert. But I got that back at the hotel ;)
Monday morning we packed up, grabbed free nosh in the hotel lobby and headed out to LaGuardia where Mrs. CB was promptly searched by security as I stood on the side, snickering. We had a great flight home and Mrs. CB found her inner New Yorker when she honked while waiting to get out of the parking lot. A moment of pride, people.
So now we are home and the boys are still trying to decide just how pissed they are that we left them alone for so long.
The end
