Thought I'd try to get back on track with this in 2007, especially now that I can post from work:

This one is a 4-parter, please check your work before handing in your papers. Eyes on your own answers, please! can you tell I have spent the last few days holed up with a teacher?

Subject: Holiday Gifts

1. What was the best gift you received?
2. What was the biggest "WTF?" gift that you received?
3. What did you really want, but didn't get?
4. What did you get, but didn't really want?

My Answers:
1. Ultimate Superman DVD Collection from my baby and the Video Picture Book
2. Pizza crust mix from my devil-sister
3. Porn Books, you know, the ones with paper and ink and no mouse to move the pages.
4. A new furnace :(

1. Four handmade wooden bowls made by my uncle Mike. He is really very talented with woodworking and they are *beautiful*. I intend to take pictures. They were by far my favorite present this year, and that is saying a lot since I got some pretty awesome presents.

2. Hmm...I didn't get anything really bad this year, it was all pretty awesome. I guess one of the strangest things I got was a kid's book I got from T (about a hot dog). Cool, but odd.

3. There are two CD's on my wishlist I wish I would have gotten: Bach: English Suites, BWV 806-811 and French Suites - 70th Anniversary Edition.

4. A wicker basket? Of course it was filled with yarn and hershey kisses, and those I did want. I was pretty lucky on the gifts this year, nothing really strange.

1.) Either the 1500-piece puzzle or the $100 gift card to Best Buy, I have yet to decide which.
2.) A scarf-and-glove set from the sister. I LIVE IN A DESERT.
3.) There was a video game I asked for that I was really looking forward to. Turns out it hasn't been released yet, but I didn't know that until after Christmas was over. So that bummed me out.
4.) A hand-held mixer that I told my mother I did not need when she called to ask if I had one.

1. Rubix Cube
2. Giant pink mug - three times normal size - with the words 'I can handle anthing, I am a WOMAN!' (I really liked it)
3. I can never think of anything I want, so not getting them rarely happens... world peace?
4. I got a couple of Waterstone's book vouchers - I love book vouchers and really wanted them but the nearest Waterstones is in the next big town and my lazy soul would much prefered Amazon... but I'll still get to wallow in book shopping, so it can't be bad.

1. DVDs: AbFab (seasons 1-5) & Valley of the Dolls!

2. Nitrous oxide.

3. Like you, I'm rather amazed that no one bought me any books. But it's not like I need 'em anyway.

4. Chocolate! I'm all chocolated out from various holiday feeding frenzies. However, I strongly suspect this will pass.

1. Gaggia espresso machine. I may never leave my house. I also got a very cool dig kit from my sister, complete with a "Bastard file", which is the file you use to sharpen your trowel.

2. Ceramic decorative milk jug filled with glittered poinsetta branches. Too bad I "left" it at home.

3. I put BSG and a buncha video/computer games on my list, and got nary a one.

4. The flu.

1. [livejournal.com profile] will_i_am_oak, [livejournal.com profile] miashael, & [livejournal.com profile] amyrayh all together for Yule with [livejournal.com profile] shatterpath and myself.

2. I honestly didn't get one that I can think of. The closest thing I can think of is the additional $50 my grandfather sent me, after saying the initial $100 was for birthday and Christmas.

3. Fraggle Rock Season 2 on DVD...but we got that for NYE.

4. A sick family.

Is it okay that I post this in my lj with a pointer link to your post? Or would you rather no pointer link?

Well, to be fair my wishlist was something like 80% books. And for my "big gift" of the year T's Mom bought me John Sandford's Prey series in paperback, so that was 15-16 books right there. I need train reading, and those books are *perfect*. They are great for crime/cop type books, and I can't read anything too involved when I'm paying attention to train stops and there is a lot of noise around and such.

AB Fab!! I bet you two had a great NYE. And dude, nitrous oxide?! Care to explain.

My stepmom always buys me books, but gave me cooking stuff this year. All I really wanted was the new Alex Cross book and the local grocery had it for 25% off. Too bad I was too into fanfic this weekend to read it.

While I got to see all of my family (including devil sister and her evil bastards..and 1 sweet nephew), we didn't get to see our frieinds due to dual household illnesses. Hopefully this weekend everyone will be feeling up to snuff.

ANd extra money for the holidays rocks! I was just going through gift cards and found a $20.00 bill staring at me, begging to be spent.

Hope the family is feeling better!

I actually had the opportunity to spend my b'day/Yule money on things I wanted this year, rather than spending it to make sure people had gifts. It's the first time in YEARS that I've been able to do that... I didn't know what to do with it! *g*

The rest of the family seems to be doing better, but I'm the sick one now. Tho' thankfully, I've not gotten AS sick as everyone else. *knocks on wood*

Espresso = love

Its amazing how much more I enjoy espresso drinks now that I'm not making them for cranky people every morning.

You, me, THI, and espresso. I'll make the brew if you bring the Baileys.

AbFab is a great way to bring in the New Year.

The nitrous oxide was a gift from a friend of my sister's. I don't really get any kind of...er, um, enjoyment from them, so I gave 'em to my sister.

But I have to say, your sister wins the Lame Gift Award: PIZZA CRUST MIX? Duh.

1. Kitchen scale & a dual probe cooking thermometer & a blender - I guess my family is coming to dinner in the near future!

2. My brother's stocking stuffer gifts: swiffer sweeper vacuum
dusting pads and replacement filters - I don't own a swiffer vac...

3. Transfer to Washington, DC

4. MP3 player from my aunt - little 512MB job - I use my PDA when traveling, really had no desire for one, especially one with such limited space

Holiday Gifts

1. What was the best gift you received?
- A new (second hand) CPU for my computer (woo hoo - it's literally 10 times faster than the antique I was previously attempting to put up with!) Probably the best gift I have EVER recieved!! Well except for my nephew (he's the best gift I could ever ask for - I just adore the little squirmer!)

2. What was the biggest "WTF?" gift that you received?
- A white box with glass in the front and little shelves inside for showing minatures??!!! (WTF??!! Seriously people, sometimes I wonder if my aunt even KNOWS me!)

3. What did you really want, but didn't get?
- To spend Christmas with my family :-( Stupid work and living 2500 kilometers away from home.

4. What did you get, but didn't really want?
- The box of liqueur chocolates from my mum - nice thought to try to make Christmas Day by myself a bit more pleasant, but I'm not that big a fan of liqueur chocolates (I'd prefer a normal box of chocolates) and frankly it's the LAST thing my figure (or what's left of it!) needs....

1. Either the Retro Bluetooth Handset or the 250GB external HD.
2. I didn't get anything too weird this year since my grandmother didn't do her own shopping.
3. Dead Poet's Society DVD (though I'm sure I can make up for that with my $50 in Best Buy gift cards!)
4. see number 2

1. Fishy Stuff. I got early Christmas gifts in October of a larger tank (40 gallon) and filters, and then on actual Christmas I also got aquarium rocks and fake plants. All four of my goldfish and I are so much happier with a proper sized tank and a pretty home to live in.
2. Honestly, looking back over my loot list, I'm not seeing anything that isn't something I would have bought for myself if I had the money. Have to pick something... I'm going with the slipper socks that I couldn't cram my feet into and my mother decided to keep for herself but gave me cash for instead.
3. sex - but I had no expectation of that
4. Pants. I like them, and they are comfy and something I would never have bought for myself and probably needed, but like, they are pants O_O
