Your Weekend Update
Jan. 29th, 2006 09:05 amLast night we watched Simone Lahbib in The Young Person's Guide to Becoming a Rock Star while downing a delicious bottle of red. Is it wrong that I loved the fact they they constantly referred to her character as "the one with the big tits"? I watched all six eps (35 minutes each) and was disappointed that it was such a short series. Simone's character, Fiona, struggled to maintain a professional relationship with another band member-reminded me so much of Helen and Nikki except for the fact that Jez is a dude. But it was fun, campy, and offered great shots of Lahboobs as well as the navel ring...I may have to break out some screen caps of that last ep. I should also upload the soundtrack, especially my new theme song, "Why Won't You Shag Me?" I can't wait until the new season of WotB starts on BBCA so I can start lusting after the modern Simone and not some character she played 7-8 years ago.
Got a ton of shit accomplished over the weekend and am currently in the process of tranferring data from my old pc to my new one. Portable hard drives are teh bomb! And the new keyboard is BIGGER!! My big lesbian hands are very happy now. The office has been completely re-organized and we found a chair for me that is extremely back-friendly. This afternoon I get to tutor Mrs. CB on this system-have I mention that she's techno-tarded? I have to upload all my vids and pics, then add my video-editing program as well as my PSP8. Need to mind my MusicMatch disk as well. But most importantly, I need to find one more movie poster to frame and put on the last bare wall. We have a huge Fargo one, as well as The Blue Angel and an autographed WICKED theater poster. I really want to find a Patricia Neal poster...Hud or The Day The Earth Stood Still. Love Patricia Neal!
We indulged in a little retail therapy yesterday and I came away with some old school 80's faves...Richard Marx's Greatest Hits-(I keep singing "Hazard" and changing the lyrics to imply that he did indeed slit her throat by the river) and Fame on dvd...I may get the TV series as well, cause Erica Gimple is hot! I also bought a Fossil watch which is very surprising because I am not known for spending money on watches or jewlery for myself. But there was a gorgeous green-faced watch that Mrs. CB swore matched my eyes, so vanity beat out frugality and I bought it. The last new watch I got was my 10th anniversary gift from work and that was five years ago.It stopped working in 2004.
Finally saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire yesterday on the IMAX screen...awesome! What wasn't awesome was seeing a mouse run into the theater just as I was walking out to get my ration of butter, salt and popcorn. Another couple walking in pointed it out, and I barely contained the biggest girly squeal evah! and let out a growling "Jesus Christ!!!" instead. When I walked back to my seat, Mrs CB said, "I hear we need a cat." We sat there and laughed about the mouse and don't you know we came up with a children's story in about 15 minutes. I admit, I have always wanted to be a children's author, albeit one who leads a life of crime and debauchery behind her penname. Watch out people...I may become a pretentious twat after all ;)
We have an OSU women's game today then back home where I will attempt the Great Internet Hookup of 2006. So, in case I fuck it up and can't get online for the week it will take the cable bastards to arrive, have a nice week!

Date: 2006-01-29 03:41 pm (UTC)Man, I love Hud! It might be my favorite modern western, and Patricia was perfect as Alma. She was such a great matter-of-fact, cut the bullshit character. Don't believe I've ever come across a poster for the movie, though.

Date: 2006-01-29 08:43 pm (UTC)I haven't seen any Hud movie posters that aren't of Paul Newman exclusively (I seem to remember seeing one in Midnight Cowboy--Joe Buck has one, doesn't he? Or maybe my brain is making that up.) But CB: You might have good luck looking for movie posters on your sojourn to NYC in the spring.
