Who would you like to see nominated for the Supreme Court?

I'm not particular, but I want O'Connor to be replaced by another female, just because I think that'd be good. More females should be on the supreme court, really.

(And my fangirly answer? Judge Jamie Ross. ;))

If you're gonna get all fangirly then I want Cabot on the court :)

I'd also be okay with that. ;)

(Because fangirly court suggestions are so much more positive than, you know, whoever will REALLY get appounted.)

Do you think he'd have the time?

I really hate seeing her go, it bothers me soooo much :(

How about [livejournal.com profile] aqua_blurr? I think she'd be great...

You know the DNL Front will block that vote in any way they can! Viva La Deck Nail!

p.s. I'd love to see Fran Leibowitz nominated. Hell, she's played a judge on Mothership, she'd do just fine.

Horrifyingly, I think this qualifies me for the position. The nails are (currently) brown and were manufactured in Taiwan, or Korea, or China or wherever *those* types come from. I really doubt they are Christian, much less Evangelical. And their refusal to accept their traditional position in the American structure of the Backyard Deck is evidence of their immorality and their probable intent to corrupt other building materials. Dude, I'm SHOCKED no Bush lackey has called yet!

I should check the phone line.

I agree! But I fear any assassination attempts would involve crows.

This is true. I'm a better ev0l leader than an oppressor of backyard things. As an oppressor, I've proven to be... highly vulnerable.

On the plus side, the deck is pretty. Perfect, sweetie dahling, for lounging about and drinking summer cocktails. Oppressor or no, I'm one hell of an example of bougeois drunkard! Mmmartinis. Mmmojitos. MmmMmmMmm. :D

If called, I will do my duty.

What? Who, me? Little o'l me? Why, thank you! ::preens::

It would be a hardship though. I'd have to retrain myself not to call a certain other justice 'Uncle Thomas' and not to root "Sou-TER! Sou-TER! Sou-TER!" every time that gifted and reasonable man walked in the room. Also, I'd be naked under the robe, which in and of itself doesn't seem so burdensome except where am I going hide a reserve of scalia-intended spit balls? and the straw for doing the spitting.

I would get a little pleasure from cavalierly tossing my feet onto the desk and "letting it all show." I'd stop shaving in the hopes of changing a few minds regarding the importance of privacy and a woman's body. Heh.

I'd also be tempted to steal shit from everyone but Souter and then call them Indian-givers and tell them to move to Sherrill, NY. Double heh.

Then again, I'm FAMOUS for my cocktail parties. I could get very incriminating photos. In color. :D

I know :(

I read something in our paper about Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio)being on the short list. I like him a lot, but his record is a little too conservative for me.

Maybe I'll just put myself in the running.

a queer, liberal, non-Christian, woman of color...though I'd probably settle for a middle-aged Christian white dude if he's liberal.

I agree. Someone who doesn't have a political agenda and doesn't kiss ass.

Is there anyone who fits that bill?

Former governor of Texas, Ann Richards: she is moderate and W. might bite because she is from his home state.

And since there is no provision in the constitution for the justices to be judges, Marian Wright-Edelman. She is an African-American female who started the Children's Defense Fund for education of urban children. She is a long-time advocate for children and the poor.

If I were president, I'd pick Dolores Fernandez Huerta--former teacher and labor leader for disenfranchised Mexican immigrants in California AND she raised eleven children of her own.

You know, I think I'm almost at the point--knuckled into bitterness and vengefulness--that I'd be okay with someone, anyone, with a political agenda that matched my own. I used to be idealistic in hoping for impartiality and integrity. Nowadays, I kinda want some clever and unscrupulous individual to work the system in my favor. Is that wrong? Yes? Damn.
