CB's Question of The Day
Jul. 7th, 2005 11:12 amAfter watching the news this morning, I struggled to find a ?otd that seemed appropriate. So I am going with the one Mrs. CB and I came up with on the way home from the pool yesterday.
If you had to describe your spouse/partner/significant other/friend with benefits with A song title, what song title would you choose? And for extra credit, what song title would they pick to describe you?
My answer: "The Lucky One" by the late, great Laura Branigan.
What song do I think she would pick to describe me? The Theme from Xena:Warrior Princess, of course.

Date: 2005-07-07 03:45 pm (UTC)Usually, my "song that describes me" changes about bi-weekly, and this is no exception, but I'm going with "Climbing Uphill" from the show The Last Five Years. I mean, the song is about the process of trying out for a musical, which isn't really my life, but it's got a lot of comments about fighting your way thorugh a lot of adversity, and I totally feel that way. All the time, really.

Date: 2005-07-07 03:48 pm (UTC)Aside: My best friend once said that "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead" by XTC made her think of me. I'm not sure if it was the actual content of the song or the size of my head that served as such a fond reminder.

Date: 2005-07-07 08:58 pm (UTC)That may come up on the next exam, so study!
But I'll go with "Dancing Queen" because 1) She loves ABBA and 2) She's always wanted to be royalty.
You mean she's not? :looks down nose at you:
"The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead"
Oh now, hey there, nothing wrong with people with big heads. We are just more brillianter, right?

Date: 2005-07-07 07:02 pm (UTC)She would describe me by using "I Ran" by Flock of Seagulls-- because, yes, I am old enough to remember 80"s techno-rock.

Date: 2005-07-07 07:33 pm (UTC)Gershwin's "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" followed by "Let's Kiss and Make Up" come to mind ;D ...no, seriously, I am not going to get personal so I will say "Cinnamon and Clove" for no other reason than that she loves Bossa Nova.
And though she is NOT a Mellencamp fan (and neither am I)... I will offer "I Need a Lover that Won't Drive Me Crazy" as her title for me... Ha!

Date: 2005-07-07 09:02 pm (UTC)A song title to describe her: The Promise (Tracy Chapman) because she embodies promise: promise of a better day, a safer world, bells of laughter, a happy home, a warm bed. :)
A song title to describe me: Cold Feet (Tracy Chapman) 'cause I gots chilly feet at night--which she accuses me of every night. *shrug*
OMG!!!1111eleventy11!!!!!!!!!SQUEEEEEE
Date: 2005-07-07 09:04 pm (UTC)I couldn't find one called "The Snorting Snorer", but that would have worked for Mrs. CB.

Date: 2005-07-07 11:35 pm (UTC)I'd describe her with 'Temptation' by Diana Krall
she'd describe me with 'Oceano' by Josh Groban.

Date: 2005-07-08 03:37 pm (UTC)She could pick any number of things for me, so I'll offer a few suggestions:
"City Love" by John Mayer
"Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" by Sarah McLachlan
"Fat Bottom Girl" by Queen :P
