I had a miserable day yesterday. Anyone that has ever pinched a spinal nerve will understand how the pain often seems to emanate from the marrow of your bones. The cold, rainy weather did not help.

What helped? Trying to guide my better half through the inner workings of Live Journal...from posting, to friending, to uploading her new icon of Amy Ray's crotch (help me?!). Then, I watched Battlestar Galactica. Anyone else watch this? I am really enjoying it.

So I limp of to bed last night and it was pouring down rain. Thundering, flashes of lightning, wind blowing people down, all the good stuff. I wake up this morning to find it is fucking SNOWING!!! Belated April Fool's much?

I wanna go shopping today to get a lava lamp like [livejournal.com profile] heathers. But Mrs. CB just came back from errands and said the roads are Teh Shit. Looks like I am stuck here on Pope Watch.

Watch out for lava lamps. My roommate and I had one that jumped off its shelf and committed suicide. And man. That stuff is hard to get out of your carpet. We still can't figure out why it jumped. It didn't leave a note or anything.

That is so funny. The one H had is a nightlight, I believe.

Dunno if they have them in the states, but the Canadian Home Depots for $4.97 each. There's blue, pink and green :) They just plug into an outlet with a little on/off switch on them.

What color is the one in H's pic...that was so cool. And they are nightlights? Goodbye nightmares!

H's is blue, but the other two colours look really cool plugged in, too. And yes, they are nightlights :)

Your wife has a live journal? With an icon of...Amy Ray's crotch?
*snicker* Love.

I'm glad we don't have the snow and rain here. Today it is sunny and nice here, supposed to have a weekend warmup...yeah! Too bad I'm working and I won't really be able to see much of it.

Yeah, she is writing a little and stalking fangirling the Indigo Girls via live journal.

Her icon can be seen in the a comment or two down.

Her journal is [livejournal.com profile] stargazer1960

I want to see this icon.

And I'm sorry you're in pain :( As Homer Simpson says, "Here's to alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems."

I was watching PBS last night (I know) and they had a very interesting show on animal venom and the numerous medical uses scientists have found for some of them. One type is from the Magician's cone shell (snail) found in the Pacific Ocean's waters.

"Most patients with intractable pain eventually become tolerant of powerful opiate drugs such as morphine and pethidine, even at dosages 1000 times higher than those that would kill a normal person. Dr. Brose's Stanford study infused SNX-111 directly into the spine of seven volunteers, who had suffered chronic pain for more than 35 years after amputations or nerve damage. They used a tiny pump that delivers a constant dosage of the drug. After three days, five of the seven patients reported their pain had disappeared.
The only side-effects were mild eye jitters and a slight drop in blood pressure - patients on heavy doses of opiates are normally lethargic and suffer impaired intellectual function. "

How amazing is that! Maybe this medication will soon be FDA approved and widely used and you can find relief.
