1. Total number of books owned: By estimation, at least 500 between me and Mrs. CB and that doesn't include the 150-200 comic books/graphic novels we have collected. Let's just say we have seven book cases and they are jam packed.
ETA: My dad and stepmom just brought me 2 more, so make that 502
2. The last book I bought: 102 Minutes by Jim Dwyer and Kevin Flynn. An emotional struggle to read for anyone affected by 9/11.
3. The last book I read: The Vanished Man by Jeffrey Deaver, the fifth in his Lincoln Rhymes/Amelia Sachs series.
4. 5 books that mean a lot to me:
1. Sheros by Varla Ventura- A fantastic "quick-look" at extraordinary role models (both real and fictional) for women. A fun and fast read that sneaks a little history in on you.
2. In or Out: Gay and Straight Celebrities Talk About Themselves and Each Other by Boze Hadleigh- An amusing book that brings the love and the snark for Gay Celebrities (are you reading this Mariska? I hear there might be a Volume 2?)
3. America The Book by The Daily Show With Jon Stewart- A laugh-a-minute history lesson with special tutoring on how to mock Republicans. This book is the only thing that kept me going after the elections.
4. One Thousand New York Buildings by Jorg Brockmann (photography) and Bill Harris (text)- Last June, I went to NYC for the first time and fell completely in love with all that is New York. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed looking at the architecture of the city, so I bought this book to learn more. Now, whenever I get the urge to max out my credit cards and hop on a plane, I open the book instead. Beautiful photographs with just enough textual detail to let you know the importance of the building.
5. This is a tie. Dare to Repair by Julie Sussman and Stephanie Glakas-Tenet and 100 Things You Don't Need A Man For-Home Repair and Improvement by Alison Jenkins- Every tool dyke needs these books. I really learned a lot which helped me in my remodeling projects last year. Mrs. CB is hiding these from me for at least a year so I don't get a wild hair and kill my back on a new project.
