I am starting to think that maybe we should just move there already. We are planning for spring break already. This time we are heading to Seneca Falls so I can take Mrs CB to The National Women's Hall of Fame.

Has anyone been there before or know anything about the area? Any wineries? We'll be driving this trip and making a few stops along the way. Might hit Amish country on the way there or the way home. I wouldn't mind a side trip over to Toronto, or at least the Falls.

Sounds like a great trip! I just looked through the list of women inducted, and the museum sounds awesome. :)

Mrs CB has been talking about going there ever since they opened it. She got a few margaritias in me last night and I guess I agreed to go ;)

I got nothin'. I don't know the area, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are lots of little wineries up there. There is an upstate NY brand called Salmon Run and I think they are located near Seneca Lake. (They make a good Rieseling.)

Thanks dude...I'll do a little research on that. We drove past some wineries( I always read that as "weineries"-don't ask) when we drove along the lake on a trip to Toronto a few years ago. What we are saving on airfare I hope to use on Teh Hooch.

If you are planning a trip to the Niagara wineries or TO area, email me. I grew up in the area. I'll hook you up.

Hi! Just dropping by to say the Women's Hall of Fame is a nice museum; small but nice. The Seneca Falls visitors' center is also worth a visit. The town and the area are very pretty in the summer but I wouldn't vouch for them at spring break (March? April?). The Falls isn't so much fun that time of year either.

Toronto OTOH is fun anytime!

Thanks daf9! We went to Toronto maybe 5 years ago? I loved it. It was late July and just beautiful.

Niagara Falls is pretty much the centre of Ontario wine country. There are tons of great wineries, I know, but I haven't been to any. Niagara-on-the-Lake is absolutely gorgeous, but I'm not sure what it's like that early in the spring time. During the summer, though, it's amazing and truly worth the visit.

We were talking tonight about swinging from SF over to Niagra. Maybe stage a hookup with these two crazy Canadian broads I know?

OK, I'm in late on the fun, but I've been there (my mother dragged us there on a trip to the finger lakes.) Um, well... I think they are still working on the "womens hall of fame" but as I walked through it, I couldn't but help but think to myself....
"Who runs this place?"
"I should run this place... and then I could charge more."

And, sorry, but it's really not that close to Niagara Falls or TO-(both are quite near my hometown)... but there IS decent wine in the Niagara region!

Iit's near Rochester. (where it's chilly, very republican, and they talk sort of funny-looooong vooooowels)

I am thinking we may just drive up to SF, hit the museum then head toward Niagra/Toronto. Then again, we may be going to watch some roundball action, so this may all be for nothing.

Have you been to Toronto lately? We were there 5 yrs ago...wondering if there is anything new to explore.

yes, I was in TO in June and Niagara Falls last week. (freezing!) Let me think, last 5 years... no, TO hasn't changed dramatically. Well, Lion King and MamaMia opened and both are still running. They refabbed the resaurant at the top of the CN Tower- it is called the 360, quite good. (good salmon) I think it has been more than 5 years on the renovated Hockey Hall of Fame- so you may have seen that already, did you? they refabbed an old bank building. its cool. I know TO and Niagara Falls fairly well, email or IM me if you want to chat about it.
