Damn it is cold. It was -3(F) when I left for work with a -20(F) windchill. I have yet to get warm. Okay, I am ready for spring.



We were able to have poker Sat. night even though we kept hoping the weather would be too bad for people to come over. It's not that we don't like poker, or our friends, because we do. The problem is that one of our lesbian couple friends have 2 children (aged 1 and 3ys)and they insist on bringing the kids with them to poker, regardless of who is hosting it. So not only do we have to deal with a misbehaving toddler while we are trying to eat, we then have to be quiet while they try to get the kids to sleep. Seriously! I absolutely hate being told to "Shhhh!" in my own fucking house, or hear someone else tell MY guests to be quiet. You know what? Poker is loud, fun, raucous, and did I say loud? And don't tell me to watch my language, especially when the kids are asleep. You know what? Protect your child and get a fucking sitter.Especially when it is that fucking cold out!! When MRS CB. starts to show that she is a bit steamed, well let's just say it's bad. We don't want to wait until 9:30 to start playing while you get your demon seed to sleep, especially since I want everyone out by midnight.

So, we are going to quit playing with this particular group. Anyone interested in starting a new group? Kids are okay as long as they are not there.

And Mrs. CB lost at poker while I won. That's the way it usually goes. The chili and cornbread were hits as was the yellow cake with milk chocolate frosting...which I am going to sample very soon.

Other news, my Buckeyes won again!! Still #3 in the AP poll.

Okay, time for cake.

You have my sympathy. I have a friend who wants to visit me soon, but she has a 2 year-old & a 4 year-old & wants to bring them along for a weekend to our tiny, cramped, so-not-childproof apartment. Plus it's like, so long, adult conversation--and I'm not talking about swearing, just having a sustained talk more than two minutes long about books or art or life or whatever!

I also prefer the cold but this is where I find myself living for now, but she wants to live up in Conn or NY. I just hate how expensive it is in the NE. It gets cold here sometimes, 28 couple of weeks ago, but mostly top-down weather.
