So it looks like Marcia Cross denied being a lesbian today on "The View". What is it with these gals whose names start with an "M" and end with an "a"?

Why do people have to go on talk shows to deny being gay? You don't see somebody going on The View, vehemently denying they're straight.

Seems to me, the people who deny the loudest are usually teh sekritly gay.

Hahaha. But you know what's better than a gay Marcia? A gay Brenda Strong. Because helloooo blonde amazon! Mm-mm-mm! I'm just going to jump on each new rumor as it comes up, btw. Don't mind me.

I don't know, but between seeing Mariska at the Globes with Marcia and Jodie being at her wedding, she has the most ties to gay people than any other straight person I know of

Depending on what the people on The View said, maybe Marcia's waiting for a certain time before she poses for the Advocate? I dunno... Maybe she didn't want to give the bitches the scoop hah.

Barbara Walterd asked her about it and she said she wasn't gay. Her spokeperson has also denied the dyke rumors.

They didn't deny that she was bi tho...

Mariska has a history of being a part of the GLAAD awards, so I imagine she has made friends with numerous lesbians. She may be living vicariously through them. We may never know if she has partaken of the female flesh.

lol were people saying she was? She's my favorite housewife, and I don't even watch the show. How random.

Well, I just confused her with the Sex and the City chick in my head (didn't the redhead from that show come out awhile ago?) so maybe lots of people do the same. Mariska, on the other hand, has no excuse. :P

She needs to let that act go. I've been onto her since "Melrose Place." She just got with Michael to get to Jane. :P
I did hear that one of the "Desperate Housewives" characters will be coming out, as will one of the actors. Maybe Marcia can't leak the news until The Big Gay Article she gave some exclusive interview to comes out. *fingers crossed* Really, though, I think she just digs older men.

Supposidly Marcia Cross' son on DHw is coming out as gay, not her character.

At my age, I could give a strapless f^ck about what actor/actress comes out or doesn't come out as gay or bi. It's a misuderstanding that if people in the media eye come out it sort of elevates all of us in one fell swoop. As if any Bible thumper out there is going to love me if Marcia Cross declares her proclivity for lesbian fulcrums (HA, I've been wanting to use those words).

Bottom line is, even if Mariska and Marcia and Martha and Hillary and Angelina and Sharon all come out of the closet, it won't make my life any easier nor will the law makers legalize gay marriage across the US. There will still be gay bashing, hate crimes and discrimination. Yes, we take personal pleasure in knowing that a famous female has joined our ranks, but none of us will be slipping into her pants anytime soon.

Do I sound jaded? nahhh... Younger homosexuals may not have experienced much if any gay bashing.

Some younger homos have experienced gay bashing, I have. Plenty.
I agree that having outed TV girlfriends doesn't "elevate" us by any stretch of the imagination, but I think the less "we" (as in all queers, even famous ones) are in the closet and the more Mr. & Mrs. Joe Blow see people they consider "normal" as somewhere in the GLBT spectrum, the better. Will we convince the bible thumpers? No. Will we maybe make it seem like less of a scary taboo to the standard sheltered person who doesn't hate gays but is a little squicked out by the whole idea? Maybe.
But I certainly don't base my self validation on needing to see famous queers on the cover of 'Girlfriends.' I may like to imagine myself in some of their bedrooms, but I don't need to actually get into their private lives. It's their deal, not mine.

That being said, after reading your comment I now have the urge to make an icon with Marcia on it that says "Is this because I declared my proclivity for lesbian fulcrums?" If I had icon talent, I would so do that. Anyone out there up for it?

I do hope your experience with gay bashing was not physical in nature, as mine was. I understand the need to have mainstream America see gays as 'normal'. Yet I have been told by numerous heteros that they are sick of hearing gay this, lesbian that, queer eye for the straight guy/girl. I reply with, 'well I'm sick of having hetero commercialism shoved down my throat with no options'.

Thanks to Dubya and the FCC, our rights to free speech will be whittled down soon, and I doubt the US will agree to legalize gay marriage in my lifetime. This nation is becoming frighteningly conservative and extremely religious. And they complain about the Middle East?! anyway...

If there was ever abnormal, it was started by the heteros. Inbreeding, rape, incest, adultery, pedophilia, the list goes on and on. I just want a happy quiet life in suburbia with my girlfriend and dog, where I can file married on my taxes, have rights to see each other if ever in ICU, and other rights to numerous to list. My right to marry/divorce will hurt no one.

Physical bashing to me was pretty minor, but I've taken two close friends to the hospital for their bashing injuries.

Some of those queer eye, etc. things I'm a little sick of, too. I'm not a huge fan of my sexuality being a form of entertainment. I know some really flaming gay men like Carson, but I also know geeky queers, body builder queers, etc.

Don't get me started on Dubya, I'm pretty sure he is a sign of the end of times.

And I'm with you on the marriage. I'd love to live my life in the city with my gf and our cats, be able to see each other in the ICU, etc. I hope I'll see that. I know I can mostly pull it off now, it just involves a lot of paperwork and hassle.

And as for filing married on your taxes? In almost every case its better to be single for taxes. I'm a tax accountant. Until someone dies, we get the better end of the tax deal. :)

Sorry to hear about your friends. I hope they were ok.

I kind of enjoyed watching 'Queer eye for the Straight Girl' a while back with that little dyke model... forgot her name. Yes, hets love to stereotype us into a box. I always love to see people's jaws drop when I fling open the closet door in their face.

I am an accountant myself and know its a better deal, but I still like the idea of being able to check that box :-)

With a visit to a lawyer, most legal issues in a relationship/partnership can be resolved without marriage. It would be nice to marry, but its not the end all. I especially would like the medical benefit aspect. Most large companies in the US offer this but the small and government agencies do not. shame

Yes, both of my friends made it through ok.

I've enjoyed a few eps of queer eye, it's just more the box of flamboyant gays that dance for the heteros' amusement that kills me. I wish the global "they" would show more than that.

Flinging the closet door in the faces of some hets is fun. I'm not real stereotypical for a queer, so it tends to surprise them. And I laugh. Hee.

You're an accountant? No kidding? Another queer accountant? How cool is that! My firm offers domestic partner (same or opposite sex) benefits, so I'm lucky. But I am with a pretty large firm (not big four, but in the top 15). It would be nice to get those domestic partner benefits without that being taxable income to me though, that does sort of suck. And a guarantee that even if I go to another job somewhere else I could keep benefits for myself and my gf would certainly be a good thing. My most sought after benefit would be being able to see each other in the ICU, etc. You can get paperwork to make this possible, but I still have a fear of getting in an accident in the middle of nowhere and having them deny me anyway, etc.

Yes, another queer accountant turned financial analyst...and rock star by night.
Hey, Queer eye for the TurboTax :-)
I've been told that I should not tell any jokes... sorry

I work for a government agency. I doubt they will ever allow dom. partner rights.

You can always use the "she's my sister" in the ICU. I have used it, and the nurses usually figure it out but don't say anything.

Heh. No worries, I'm an accountant, I'm used to bad jokes. You should meet my coworkers.

Rock star by night hm? What kind of music do you play?

A government agency? Probably not, unless there is a massive outbreak of a disease that kills only conservatives and the liberals take their heads out of their collective asses and legalize gay marriage. It could happen.

If I or my gf land in the ICU I will remember that. Hopefully I won't ever need to know that, though.

P.S. You seem like a cool person. I friended you.

I play the drums for Logan's Run www.cspringmusic.com We play mostly rock music, not the my-ears-are-bleeding type, stuff you can dance and party to. We go from Tom Petty to Rolling Stones, Blink 182, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fleetwood Mac. We try to make everyone happy and unsober :-)

Me cool? Why thank you. You also.
