We had a goofy discussion at work today because you are all obviously not out catching enough Influenza, Herpes, and Chlamydia to keep us sufficiently occupied.

So here is a poll for shits and giggles:

I will say that I am right-handed, but I had to be left-handed for a year while I was in various casts/splints/braces. Trying to sign your name with a non-dominant hand...on a check...can be a pain in the ass. Especially if it's a long name. I continue to write right-handed, but quite a few things stayed left-handed.

To clarify: Ambidextrous means that you are able to do ALL tasks EQUALLY with both hands. If you write lefty, but not legibly as a righty...you are a lefty, regardless of what you can do with your right hand.

I waffled between right-handed and ambidextrous only because I do pretty much everything besides writing with my left hand. And I can effectively wield a knife with both hands so that has to count for something. XD

I can stab someone with both hands...not that I've tried ;)

I'm left-handed when I write, but I do almost anything else with both hands. Small hands need to work twice as hard.

Small hands look great next to large ones :)

for what - you need to be more specific

I write, eat and throw righty but there are other... activities where I'm not half bad with my left....

Entirely right-handed - my left is pretty useless until it comes to unscrewing lids.

I use both hands to bang that mother on the counter before I open it with my left.

mostly left-handed, but i can write with my right hand fairly legibly; i also "mouse" with my right hand -- including detailed photoshop type stuff. erm... i guess i should have ticked ambidextrous, huh?

I haven't tried mousing left-handed, but when I worked in an ice-cream shop during high school, I made my soft serve cones left-handed.

I'm pretty hopelessly left-handed, although in playing baseball/softball I can bat both ways. Make of that what you will. :)

I can bat both ways
Because you knew that I would.

I only batted right-handed, but I played first base, so I always wished I was left handed. I can't tell you the number of bitches I had to smack down after games because they ran me over and I couldn't see them. And this was in grade school ;)

If I tried batting right-handed I'd probably end up hitting myself in the face with the bat. Somehow it would happen.

Because of a growing arthritis problem with my right hand and a pinched nerve in my right shoulder, I'm learning to be dexterious with both hands. Currently, I am a proficent lefty with brushing my teeth (harder than you'd think to learn--try it), mousing, and well other things. The left-handed mousing throws off our tech people at work, but so far, no complaints on the homefront with my learning to be a lefty.

I had a bone graft done on my right arm a few years back and I was in casts/splints...for a year. Learning to do somethings with a non-dominant hand can be alternately amusing and frustrating. Shaving my legs left-handed= worse summer ever!

Ouch! Yup, some things are just a painful learning experience.

That was hard to choose. I do all of my gross motor skills lefty (except I learned to play golf with my gf's righty clubs), and all fine motor skills righty. Fucking categories, little boxes I never quite fit it. *pouts*

Hi I added you to my friend's list after finding a link to your assessment of Alex/Olivia in ship_manifesto and then skimming your journal, finding it to be interesting, and you're from Columbus.

I'm Jill, from Cleveland, and left-handed. Hi. :-)
