Holiday Musings
Dec. 22nd, 2008 11:01 amWow! I can’t believe that it is almost Christmas already. And I haven’t bought a single gift. Now, Mrs. CB HAS bought a few gifts on my behalf (I had to work all weekend), so I am not as far behind as I could be. Of course, she is all done and I am going out in this negative wind chill after work to finish mine. I think I’ll just stop at the liquor store and booze everyone up for the holidays.
Our first (of several) family Christmas is tomorrow-a trip up north for Mrs. CB’s family. We still don’t know if I am going-kinda depends on the weather and whether or not I can ditch work a little early. Tomorrow is my last day of work, then I have five days off, but with all the traveling and hosting of my family, it won’t seem like much of a vacation.
Christmas Eve might find us traveling north again for a visit with MamaCB. Daddy #2 had a triple bypass 12 days ago and is finally home. As long as the weather holds out, we’ll go up, then drive back that night so we can spend Christmas Day at home with the fuzzballs and a few bottles of wine.
On Friday or Saturday I can expect Daddy #1 and my step mom, my brother, and my sister and her brood. I still have no idea what I am going to make for dinner. And there really isn’t enough booze in the world to survive 24 hours with my sister….
Sunday will be a day of rest and recovery and possibly rehab, cause seriously! Family overload!!!
Anyway, enough about the holidays.
Mrs. CB and I are slowly muddling through the spring and fall house cleanings we missed this past year. The boys have been hoarding their toys and my hair bands under my dresser. I found a ton of notes for an A/O story, so maybe, JUST MAYBE, I’ll actually get one written for Epic Proportions this year. Of course, at this point, everything hinges on my health.
We still haven’t gotten a diagnosis although I see the pulmonologist again next week. My lung function testing has twice said that my breathing is the same before and after a treatment, and the asthma medications haven’t helped, so I am thinking that we will be ruling out asthma. That leads to either a pulmonary issue or a cardio issue. Everyone at work is having great fun trying to play “House” and diagnose me. Last offer was cardiomyopathy due to some virus I caught. That would be my luck. Anyway, spirits are good and we just want to find out what it is and start a treatment plan. It really sucks to be out of breath after walking across a room and to be so utterly exhausted all the time. Maybe I just have cooties…
Okay, gotta get back to work, so in case I don’t get a chance to post again for a while, Happy Holidays to you all!!

Date: 2008-12-22 04:14 pm (UTC)I just have to say I'd love it if you were one of House's patients. Because after 30 seconds you'd probably take his cane and beat him over the head with it.
