Happy New Year!!!
Dec. 31st, 2008 04:26 pmAs December 31st rolls around, I find myself not wanting to review the past year like I usually do. Let's just say there were lots of good things and a few bad things and call it a year.
I still don't have a diagnosis as to Mystery Ailment, but we are getting closer. Another test on Monday, and if that is normal, probably another next week to look for a pulmonary clot. I knew that sinus surgery in March was a bad idea.
Apparently, all of the 30 GB Zunes throughout the world locked up at midnight. Including mine. It is a brick at the moment and I am patiently awaiting a MS fix for it. I initially thought mine had finally just died (I have an original release) and was already picking out an upgrade. I may still go with the upgrade (sleeky, sexy, blackness that I shall name "Erica Hahn"), but I am saddened that "Helen Stewart" may no longer be a part of my MP3 life. My car is still named "Helen", so the Scot stays with me ;)
Plans for tonight? We are staying in. I am gonna start us a light dinner soon (shrimp cocktail, ginger-sesame marinated chicken, broccoli, and maybe rice). We have two more bottles of Uncle Dick's Sparkling Shiraz (OMG goodness!!!)I am thinking of a dvd-a-thon, but haven't decided between TSCC-Season 2, Witchblade, Lost, or just some movies. What are you all doing tonight? Compared to last year's adventures with
theholyinnocent, and spouse (and cat), we will be lucky to stay awake until midnight.
Tomorrow is a lazy day of more DVD's. I am preparing our annual NYD meal of garlic and black pepper crusted pork loin, sauerkraut, and potatoes. I will probably whip up some bruschetta for lunch. Friday, back to work-will be boring as hell. This weekend, continued laziness as I don't consider the New Year official until Monday. And Monday the OSU Buckeyes play Texas in the Fiesta Bowl. It will be a day of "O-H" and "I-O" responses on the phone at work.
Okay, off to start dinner.
Everyone have a safe and Happy start to 2009!

Date: 2008-12-31 10:19 pm (UTC)"Uncle Dick's Sparkling Shiraz" sounds like code for something else. I don't know what, just that it sounds like code.

I've had Uncle Dick's Sparkling Shiraz. Once I got past the questionable name, I really liked it! Tonight we have a bottle of champers and a couple bottles of red sitting around...plus Mrs. THI has her trusty Sambuca. But like you, we will probably be crapping out early this year and falling asleep by midnight. (Although Bo is missing you..."Remember last year, when that odd, tall woman kept taking photos of me?")

Date: 2009-01-01 02:09 am (UTC)Sounds like you've got a very nice evening lined up there. Oh, and great Erica icon for the occasion.
I'm just relaxing (yeah!) with the hubby tonight. And I love it! The older I get, the more I love to just cocoon... :)
All the best for 2009!

Date: 2009-01-01 02:41 am (UTC)We went out for a quiet dinner, then home. I broke into Mrs R's swag from her winning football bet and put a six of Corona in the fridgie for her. Granny R is making black-eyed peas and collard greens tomorrow. Looking forward to a long sling-up of football-watching and general laziness.
Hope you get a diagnosis soon...the one that led to my retirement took eleven long months.
All the best to you in 2009!
