cabenson: (Happy New Year)

Yay 2010!!!

I have waited 26 years to see if the world would really be anything like it was depicted in the movie, 2010. Where are my moon shuttles, tight fitting polyester uniforms, floating space babies and double suns? I have vitamin d deficiency, I need my double suns!!!!

Damn I loved that movie! /geek

So, we are having friends over for chili and the Rose Bowl game today. I did most of my prep work yesterday, so while Mrs. CB is cleaning the bathrooms and vaccuuming the living room, I thought I would try to come up with a few resolutions that I might actually keep this year:

1. Moisterize. Vit D deficiency and thyroid disease has left me with uber dry skin and I often forget to put on lotion. So in order to avoid hearing Mrs. CB chant, "It will rub the lotion on its skin or else it will get the hose again" while holding the kitchen sink sprayer, I'll make a sincere effort to lotion up after my shower and before bed.

2. "44 before 44"- I want to lose 44 lbs before my 44 bday which is exactly 4 months from today. 10 lbs a month is doable with exercise and cutting the crap food from my diet. I actually started this in December and have lost 6 lbs so I only have 38 more to go. Thankfully, the Wendys in the work parking lot has been demolished and I will have to pack my lunches now.

3. Write that one last Alex/Olivia story that has been lingering in my brain for 3 years. It explains Alex's return from WPP better than the show did. Oh, the show never really explained it? Ah...

4. No new fandoms, OTPs and especially no Ship Manifestos. Yeah I know, but I have to at least TRY...

5. Participate in NaNoWriMo this year. I have a really great story idea, I just never seem to be available in November to write it.

6. Spend more time with friends and family. This may include a trip out west with Mrs. CB because she qualifies as both.

7. Post in LJ more even if it is boring shit.

8. Learn something new- maybe that photo editing program I've had for 5 years, maybe electrical work...anything, just something new and practical

9. See more movies in theaters. I used to love doing this and when I stared having trouble with my back, we stopped going. Pain pills and muscle relaxers may enhance my movie viewing pleasure.

10. Continue working full time for at least one more year and pay off debt. Then I can consider working part time and returning to school.

Don't know how many of these I will keep, but I am gonna try.

What about you? What are you resolving to do/not do/accomplish/destroy in 2010?

Very good list!

1. Moisturize dammit!
2. Yep, very doable. Keep on keepin' on!
3. Write dammit!
4. Bwahahahahahaha!!!
5. Make time dammnit!
6. Trip out west, first, and then another Elder encounter. *g*
7. Your posts are never boring.
8. New and practical is good.
9. Movies are good.
10. Paying off debt is good and... return to school dammit!

Me? I like your list: I'll go with #1, #2, #4, #6, and #8.

You and Mrs. CB are the best couple ever. Your description of the Silence of the Lambs routine had me spewing my orange juice cracking up. You'd better moisturize!

Hmmm, what are my resolutions? Quitting smoking. Again. And sticking to it this time. Which I actually don't think will be a problem. Exercising more so that my back doesn't kill me so much when I wake up in the morning. Or, you know, try to move. And...? I don't really know. I think your resolutions are good. Very doable. I think I will moisturize more, too.

Moisterize! Aim high, boo! :) I don't want Mrs. CB to make a suit out of you.

I want to lost some weight this year too--for me this means exercising more. So maybe we can encourage each other in that respect. Been thinking of getting a Wii....

wii Boxing is great for getting out your anger when you come home from a particularly difficult commute. It got my heart rate up, boy oh boy.

Ha! I was talking w/my sister about the Wii (she has friends who have one), and she mentioned the boxing program, which made me prick up my ears (and fists). It would be the perfect countermeasure to dealing with the MTA on a daily basis.

I loved that movie, too, for all the reasons you stated, plus Helen Mirren with a Russian accent. :)

A lot of my resolutions look like yours - 5 through 8, specifically. Good luck keeping up with yours! We'll see if I can keep up with mine.

These are very impressive goals. I'm very impressed with #2. My goal is to hit my 30th birthday fit and fabulous (I know, I'm just a baby). That gives me a year (well, 53 weeks, really) to lose 16-20 lbs, and I'm not sure I can do that! So your goal is awesome.

I have one resolution - STAND UP STRAIGHT. I slouch all the time and I don't want to become a hunchback like my grandmother.

that's a lot of resolutions. good luck and I sincerely mean that.
I resolved to go to the movies more often 2 years ago and I've kept to that. Even got a frequent movie watcher card and accumulated enough points for a free ticket, popcorn and beverage!
spending more time with family and friends is another good one. I've actually used social networking sites as a means to keep up and reconnect with people in REAL LIFE. crazy, I know.
my own resolutions are:
travel less. easier said than done. I run all over this city top to bottom most days of the week. my metrocard has scorch marks.
find new employment. my current place of work is a soul sucking hot mess.
eat, exercise and sleep regularly.
take more photos and shoot more video, which I will then process and publish in some way.
