Jan. 3rd, 2010 11:29 amThrough the magic known as creative scheduling, I somehow managed 9 out of 11 days off over the Christmas/New Years holidays. How did I spend this time? Well, I did do a little bit of cleaning which I think surprised Mrs CB. My office desk is practically pristine which it must be in order for me to write without distraction. And the kitchen just sparkles. Bedroom? Well, I only got halfway done because I was having too much time enjoying the wonderful gifts we received this year:
We had some lovely times with our families this year. Despite losing Billy, it seemed like the least stressful holidy ever, and we all came to the same conclusion: no sister of CB=relaxing holiday.
To start, our simple little blue tree:

Greyson hanging out under the tree
Our gaybors made us a lovely quilt to commemorate our love for TWoO, and the 70th anniversary of it coming out:

regular heroic side

flamboyantly evil side
The quilt was a big hit with the boys, especially Greyson:

"snore, snore snore"

"Stop taking pictures of my epic cuteness!!!!"

Double kitty on the mommy sleep attack!

Mrs. CB loved the gifts I chose for her this year

And I loved the ones she got for me, especially the flannel sock monkey/gingerbread man jammies!!!

Greyon hordes his mousies

Bruin gets stoned on his kitty bong

Asher prefers the box/paper over his catnip mouse

Artie makes plans to bring these balls to my room...at midnight!

Smokey play with his catnip monkey while Bruin scarfs down his Christmas morning treat.

For lunch we had mini meatball subs

And cranberry/orange/prosecco cocktails

Dinner was beef burgundy done in the crock pot. Was surprisingly good, but what can go wrong with a dish that has...

bacon and wine in it?
New Years Eve found Mrs B outside making a snow-goddess

It kinda resembled me...

especially later in the day
Neither of us managed to stay up til midnight. I think I went to bed at 10:30 after 3 glasses of champers. /lightweight
New Years Day was Rose Bowl Day at our house and we were having our BFF's over to watch the game and exchange gifts:

Greyson really, REALLY wants the roses Mrs. CB bought. He LOVES flowers!!

Artie, on the other hand, loves BOOZE!

Game time feast of chili, cornbread and browniews, although the brownies were saved to make room for chocolate bourb on cake! O!M!G!!! Cake with chocolate AND bourbon!

Mrs CB has been teaching herself to play the dobro and our buds got her a hoodie that says "Real guitar heros play real guitars"as well as this cute little dobro ornament:

Isn't it cute?!

I was surprised to find Sock Monkey Slippers!!! IN MY SIZE!!!!!

as well as another pair of sock monkey Xmas jammies....love!
But the best gift that we got this year? The chance to spend time with our families and friends. And the Buckeyes won the Rose Bowl!

Date: 2010-01-03 05:15 pm (UTC)I just realized how much Asher looks like my sister's cat, Vern. Always great to see photos of your brood. And the food looks great, esp. the prosecoo cocktails. Yum! My beef bourguignon turned out OK--the sauce was a little sweeter than I anticipated (had to adjust ingredient amounts from the recipe & obv. did not cut back enough on the brown sugar), but bacon + wine = FTMW. But between that & the Christmas ham leftovers, I need to declare a moratorium on pork for a while.
OH ARTIE, YOU NEED REHAB, HONEY!

Date: 2010-01-04 03:25 pm (UTC)Great pics! I love pics. It's so cool to see what other people are doing. The beef looks faboo. I don't think I've ever had beef burgundy before, but I'm all over the bacon and the wine.
That little guitar ornament is awesome! We get ourselves ornaments every year, but I never see anything that cool.
PJs and kitties are lovely on Christmas. They all look so comfy!
