First stop was cheese on a stick for me,

and a lime sno cone for Mrs CB

then some chocolate covered bacon on a stick (with a cherry on top)

up close. It was okay. I can only have a limited amount of chocolate and I'm sorry I wasted it on this when I could have had

deep-fried poptarts, buckeyes, or Oreos. We may be returning for food Round 2.

Took home some:

elephant ears,

french waffles

nostalgic candy from the bulk candy place

Some fancy jellies, Apple Chutney and Orange Lily

and for the boys,

A new set of food dishes.

First, they wondered where the hell the food was,

then Greyson decided he wasn't gonna stand to eat and returned to his practice of dropping his food on the floor.

While at the fair, we visited some exhibits:

The Duct Tape Competition:

An Ohio barn

OSU

Pirates!!!

and the winner,

Clown Wagon

Then the Cake Decorating Competition

Cupcakes:

wakawakawakawaka

Picnic

Cooking up some stuff

What a rack!

Cookout

Close up of the corn on the cob

Cakes

Moar pirates!!!!!

The always present litter box version for the ugly cake contest

OSU wedding cake

close up of the OSU wedding cake topper

and the wedding cake winner:

awesome

even more awesome!

And some pretty art to close out the day:

chalk painting

I want this quilt!

and I searched everywhere, but I never found any

Chocolate, good. Bacon, good. Cherries, good. But... all at the same time? I fear it.

Those cakes/cupcakes are absolutely awesome. :D

Wow! Those cupcakes are awesome. And what are those elephant ear thingies?

Love that O-H-I-O is forward thinking when it comes to awarding grand prizes. ;)

Oh, and that nekkid ladies sign? Are we sure that didn't come from a certain someone we know???

So many things to love at the fair every year. The duct tape floats, bad food.
It's weird that the fair will give a ribbon for a double groom cake in a state that forbids a double groom wedding. Maybe someday we'll get progress.

Chocolate covered bacon on a stick with a cherry on top. Wow. Just...wow.

My sister would go crazy over the cupcakes. She does this cupcake contest thing once a month.

Chocolate-covered bacon can be good. If it's done right. Sounds like that stuff you had wasn't. Which reminds me... I need to try that bacon candy recipe I found online and see how it tastes...

*nods* And it even has a touch of heat/spice to it, which can be modified to taste...

Cheese on a stick? Is this Ohio's version of a Medieval torture device?

It's a Deep-Fried World of Wonder. I think if I ate the deep-fried Oreos or poptarts I would have to fast for a day afterwards.

Yay for the gay cake!

then Greyson decided he wasn't gonna stand to eat and returned to his practice of dropping his food on the floor.

Does he bat it all around the floor before eating it first? That's what Leon does.

Oh hell no, food is for eating, not playing-at least as far as the Fat Bastard is concerned.

GREAT pics! We've gotta wait till the end of the month for our state fair. That chocolate-covered bacon looks a little frightening to me, but the cake and the quilt are awesome!

Nothing-it is a thin , deep-fried batter in a pinwheel shape, topped w/powdreed sugar. I sometimes have one w/strawberries and icecream.
