The one where I ramble....
Feb. 13th, 2011 12:02 pmI do not seem to be doing very well with that NY resolution to post more. I guess I wish I had more fandomy stuff to post, but I am not so enamored with any show/pairing at this time. Maybe you all could shove some suggestions my way?
Things in Central Ohio are pretty good. Finally seeing the sun and it is warmer, so hopefully that ugly snow in our yard will melt and we'll see no more this year. Knock on wood I have not fallen on any ice. Slid a little, but no earthquake-registering tumbles.
Mr Artemis seems to have 9 million lives! He is fully recovered from the surgery as well as the pneumonia and pancreatitis. He is BOUNCY people!!! He has one more re-check next week as part of the clinical trial he is in. As luck would have it, Mrs CB is off so we are gonna go to lunch while we wait for his scans and stuff.
The other cats are also wonderful, in their own special way. Asher, our socially disabled cat recently jumped up on the bed and squatted like he was gonna poop. Turns out, he couldn't. Major kitty constipation and I guess that was his way of bringing it to my attention. He is now getting 2x daily doses of lactulose(poo softener) which looks like blood from the Wicked Witch of the West. He takes it better than I thought and is feeling a little better. Yesterday, he offered up a pre-Valentines Day, almost heart shaped nugget for me. My sweet boys, they love me so...
We changed their food to a vet script formula ($$$) that should help all of their digestive systems as well as help a certain fat bastard lose some weight. Most importantly, it will help colitis kitty (Smokey) heal and keep Artie from getting blockages. Only Bruin seems to be without issue, but he is pure evil so I think we'll just continue dealing with that. His favorite toy died on Friday and one would think the catapocalypse was upon us. I was able to order a new one on-line and he should have it tomorrow, along with some major kitty weed toys. I know, I spoil them.
Last night I made an early Valentine's Day dinner for my lovely
stargazer1960. She wanted steaks, so we had NY Strip steaks, fresh green beans sauteed with fire-roasted red pepper and BACONS!!!, and pinot noir mushrooms. Some delicious baklava for dessert. I also picked up some locally made ice cream and sorbet: Poached Pear Riesling and "Influenza" Sorbet (has citrus, honey, whiskey and cayenne pepper...good for curing what ails ya even if you aren't sick!) for the wife and some Roxbury Road for me (choc ice cream, homeade marshmallow, brown sugar caramel sauce and smoked almonds.)I can only have a little of that at time because of the chocolate allergy thing, but DAMN!! is it good. Salty Caramel for me as well. Like eating a fire-roasted marshmallow.
For today's dinner, we are having spaghetti and my homemade meatballs. I made them yesterday and they have been soaking up sauce all night. Gonna put them on to simmer soon...the house will smell delicious!!!
Finally, I was asked by my manager to use my video editing skills to work on a short vid for a vision forum she is presenting. Not so sure if I have "skills" vs. dumb luck, but I'll give it a try, especially since it is using photos instead of video. Should keep me out of trouble for the rest of the day...
Stay warm (cool, depending on your geographical location) and stay safe!!
And Happy early Valentine's Day!!!!!

Date: 2011-02-13 11:55 pm (UTC)Glad to hear the cats are doing better. Sorry you have to dish out more money for special food, but I get that, too, though it's much more difficult to strike a feeding balance when you're feeding multiple cats. Still, the vet 'script formula will certainly contain less filler than OTC products and should produce less volume and smell in the litter box. That said, I do hope it produces any volume at all for Asher.
It's unseasonably warm in my neck o' the woods, too, thank the goddess! Last year at this time, well, let's just not talk about last year at this time.
Happy almost V-D to you!

Date: 2011-02-14 02:10 am (UTC)Glad you are having a good weekend with the missus. We need to do dinner and drinks again, if I can ever tempt my gf to come for a visit... heh.
It's funny how even a hint of spring brings us all out of our shell here in the midwest. I plan on enjoying this week.
