So LJ has games like FB now? Hmmm...

So Tues am while heading into the shower, I had an issue with my upper back. Those that know me know that I have degenerative disc disease and that I have had multiple surgeries/procedures on my lower back. The past couple years, I have been experiencing greater discomfort with my upper/middle back. Tuesday morning, it felt like someone had hit me right between the shoulder blades with a sledgehammer.

I went to work because of a Very Important Meeting I needed to attend but left when the meeting concluded. Wed I could not turn to drive, so I stayed home. Thurs I made it to work but was racked with spasms all day. Thank goodness it was a slow day. I have muscle relaxers, but because my job is critical to patient care, I won't take them while working, even if the doc says to. I just can't. It is probably the ONLY work ethic I have, but the only thing I will take for pain/spasms while handling patient reults is a couple advil.

Finally got into doc yesterday and at that point it was mostly some spasms and little pain. Til she actually touched my back and left ribcage. Holy Shit!! I actually broke out in a sweat. No wonder my blood pressure was high. The body knows when we are in pain even when we don't recognize it. She is such a good doc tho. She wanted to make sure it wasn't actually a heart attack (do YOU know the signs/symptoms of a heart attack in women? You should!!)or pleurisy. Once we were assured it was muscular, she asked if I wanted a referral to a plastic surgery cause, and I quote, "Your boobs are a size ZZZZ and they need to go!"

I am so ready for this! My girls went from a perfectly manageable 38C to a 46DDD in 5 years. Both my mother and my sister have had the same issue and they each had successful reductions. So I am gonna start researching plastic surgeons and hope to have my 38C's back sometime this summer. It will be SO nice to fit in my clothes again. Cause really, more than a handful is too much!

A great thing! Not your back pain, but the idea of getting a breast reduction. If I can ever lose weight, I'd like to as well. I have enormous boobs at the moment, but its because I'm big, you aren't. And when I'm smaller, my boobs are still big, so I want details, information and updates!

Yes, more than a handful is too fucking much. So... does that seem to be the problem? Hey, while us old ladies are talking about pain, you know that bursitis I have, that injection I've had - the corticosteroid - is lovely, it's actually making the pain managable. Make them give you a shot somewhere till you get rid of the boobies! Not get rid of them, you know what I mean. And really... did I actually just write 'boobies'? Sorry, suddenly I'm a nine year old boy.

They changed all the sizing over here, a decade or so ago, which meant that overnight (effectively, though it took a while for it to spread out completely) I went from being a D cup to being an F.

(Which still doesn't explain how people manage to call me 'sir'! If it were just from behind, I could see it, but it isn't.)

Yeah, I get called Sir too... and I'm a F. Gotta love it! Apparently they look at what they want to. What happened to the good old days when they ONLY talked to my boobs?

Good idea, Boo. Your insurance will take care of it, I trust? It will certainly help you a lot, and yes, ridiculous big boobs are...ridiculous. While I appreciate a good rack like anyone else, when they start punching people in the face, that's not good.

I've actually had this surgery done, about 10 (!!) years ago. Though I never really measured myself, I wore a 44DD bra (that never fit, so I was most likely much larger). Oh, and I'm 5 feet tall! After going through my teens and 20's with constant back and neck pain, I finally decided to look into surgery. My doctor supported me ("supported" heh) and made an appointment with a specialist. Saw him in May for the consultation and got the surgery in August, if I remember correctly. The consulation was more to see if I qualified under the Ontario Health insurance, which I did. (The specialist took one look at my rack and said, "I can't imagine you'll have any problems getting coverage.")

Went in, had the surgery done and stayed three nights. Basically, it was to make sure everything drained properly. That was the most uncomfortable thing about the whole procedure. Got out of the hospital and was told I couldn't do anything that involved high impact or heavy lifting for... 2 months? The first couple of days at home were painful, but more in a tender-not-sharp way. I was back to work in a week and back to regular day-to-day things in a month.

The only negative outcome I've had is a moderate loss of sensation in my nipples. Not sure how much you're interested in knowing about my boobies, so I'll leave it at that. :p Ask anything you like, though. I will say, it was the best decision I have ever made in regards to my body. I'm now 38C and I feel so much better.

Back in 04-05, when I was temping for AT&T [just prior to the merger], if I'd been hired on permanently before the Cingular merger, I'd have been able to get the reduction surgery for relatively low cost for me. But that didn't happen. Eventually, I should do the surgery when I can get insurance that will help me afford it.

but its because I'm big, you aren't.
Girl! I am ginormous!!

I have had spinal steroid injections before but they involve sedation, OR sterile rooms, Xray tables...painful procedure that only lasts a month or so. I am at the point where losing weight/boobage is the only way to get relief. And I wanna fit in my clothes again.

I was basically waiting for the back to be bad enough that insurance would not be an issue. My doc assured me that the surgeons "ask all the right questions" to get insurance approval.

when they start punching people in the face, that's not good.

Hmm,you never complained when I punched you with mine...

Both my mom and sister had the surgery so I pretty much know what to expect, although I think they only stayed over 1 night.
I think this will be very beneficial to me and our lifestyle. Hard to do anything when you are constantly suffering from back spasms. Hard to lose weight when you are carrying 20# of boobs around.

My girls have always been big [48DDD], so I've gotten used to how to move around them, but I think I'd be happier if they were smaller.

Sorry I don't mean your boobs, they are ginormous (who said I'm not observant... well actually, me), I mean the rest of you isn't!
