A Gay Old Time
Jul. 22nd, 2005 10:09 amLast night was the going away party for
invisible_sun who is heading to Austin,TX in 8 days to continue his edjamacation.(While you're down there Andy, piss on the streets of Crawford for us, thanks.)I don't know who we'll get to play
at the Halloween parties.
The soiree was held at the fantabulous Club Diversity and the wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the club's new home. Mrs. CB and I agreed that once I am able to be out and about for more than an hour, we'd like to start going there and listening to Teh Jazz. If anyone should ever wander into my neck of the woods (mind those restraining orders, bitches!), this is where I'd tell you to go.
We chatted with friends about Harry Potter and Broadway shows as a delicious breeze swept through the humid air. I was surprised that I felt comfortable because usually, heat and I don't mix. Must have been the wine. Jokes were made about forming a "LiveJournal Widows" comm for our spouses. I am finding that more and more of my RL friends are discovering thecrack joy that is LJ. I just need to get my best friend hooked, then she might understand the concept of HoYay! better.
In other news, the kids are at my parents and will be visiting me tomorrow on a day trip. I am disappointed that they are not staying for the weekend as originally planned. They are going to be here for a couple weeks, but I can't tolerate the drive, or ride, to my folks place yet so I have to be happy with what I get. We are seeing The Titanic Exhibit at COSI and having dinner with them before they head back to my mom's.
My allergies are going nuts and I can't even blame it on ragweed as that is not supposed to be in play for a few more weeks. Allergies + swimming = Teh unprettay.
It has been 11 weeks since the surgery and I am doing a lot better. I still can't go to a movie or anything without taking pain meds first, but I have been able to cut back on the dosage needed. I am up and moving around for a significant part of the day and the swimming and PT has helped me regain strength and a bit of flexibility. The leg still hurts but I know that is part of the healing of the nerve and that it will take a minimum of a year to go away completely, if indeed it does go away. I see the doc next Wed and I plan to return to work on Aug 1. after 3 1/2 mos off. I am more than ready to return and to continue on my neverending search for a new job.
I need to be reminded to go get my driver's license renewed. My birthday was almost 3 mos ago and I was in no condition to stand, let alone wait in line to get a new license issued. I suggested to Mrs. CB that since we never really celebrated my birthday this year, we would celebrate on my half-birthday. Maybe we can plan our trip to Chicago for that time period.
Everyone have a nice weekend. There will be no ?OTD next week as I will be spending much needed time with the wife and preparing for my return to Teh HellLab.
