Being thankful in 2005

Things for which I am thankful in no particular order:
I am thankful for my health even though it sometimes isn’t so…healthy.
I am thankful that OSU beat Michigan so I don’t have to listen to my brother gloat at Thanksgiving dinner.
I am thankful that I am able to go home for the holiday this year especially after the back surgery and difficult rehab process.
I am thankful that I did not become dependant on drugs this year even though I was put on administrative leave for having a positive random screen. (I was SO totally vindicated, but FYI, don’t throw away your empty Valium bottles until you know you’ll test clean.) In fact, I am extra thankful for the extra two weeks paid vacation which turned into 3 ½ mos. while I had a chunk of spine removed.
I am thankful that it is red wine season. Mr. Pinot has forgiven me my betrayals with Senor Cuervo.
I am thankful for Mrs. CB. We all know that I would not have made it through my blown disc and surgery had it not been for her. She is a treasure and you should all be so lucky to find someone like her.
I am thankful that I have found three new fandoms that embrace my love of space battles, long-lost cities in the ocean, and lezzies behind bars.
I am thankful that I will not have to sell my comic book collection (nerd, I know!) in order to buy gasoline this winter. I'll have to take a "wait and see" attitude on heating the house.
I am thankful for my job when so many people have lost theirs over the past year. I still hate the bitches I work with and wil be thankful when they are fired, quit, or die.
I am thankful that people are starting to question President Bush and his “gang”. I am even more thankful that those questioning are Republicans.
I am thankful for the movie love that Hollywood has given us this month: RENT, HP:GoF, Walk the Line, Capote, and a whole bunch of others my codeined-brain cannot recall.
I am thankful for my cats because they kept me amused while I was housebound and they have become quite cuddly lately.
I am thankful for Tim Horton’s’ Sour cream Glazed Donuts. Nuff said.
I am thankful for all the people who rallied to help those in need, especially some close friends who drove roundtrip to Miss to deliver supplies after the hurricane.
I am thankful to a few of the best friends a gimpy dyke could have. Whether you visited me while I was down and out or just sent encouraging emails, you made a difference and it was greatly appreciated. You all know who you are so buy yourselves a couple shots on me.
I am thankful for all the millions of new LJ friends I have made over the past year as well as the bonds I have strengthened with the old guard.
I am thankful The Burning Bush has been fully clothed most of the year.
I am thankful for being introduced to new authors, movies, and boozes from my core girls. My bank account hates you.
I am thankful that I have just over 5 months before I can play with my power tools again. So looking forward to spring.
I am thankful to my better half for wanting to take me to NYC for my birthday next year. I hope she is including a caffe latte colored whore in the travel package.
I am thankful for our families even though I have hardly seen them in the last 11 months. (which is probably why I am thankful ;)
I am thankful for 100 icons.
I am thankful for you!
Travel safely!
