Mid Ohio Comic Con 2007
Nov. 25th, 2007 02:37 pmMrs. CB and I joined a couple of friends and went to the Mid-Ohio Comic Con this morning. I was like a kid in a candy store. There were comic books EVERYWHERE! I was unsuccessful in my attempt to find two Superman graphic novels that I have been looking for, and Mrs. CB was no luckier in her search for Wild Wild West comics. I actually didn't get any comics this time which kinda surprises me. I did get DVD's tho.
I have only been to one other Comic con here in Cowtown and that was quite a few years ago. I was really surprised to see how many bootlegs DVDs were on sale. Not surprised enough to grab a couple series that we haven't found yet: Witchblade and Birds of Prey. We also found the 1974 ABC Wonder Woman movie that starred Cathy Lee Crosby. Horrible choice for WW, but fun none the less. I was sorely tempted to grab TekWars, The Bionic Woman (1970's version), Six Million Dollar Man, and a pilot for a series based on the film, Lost in Space, but I knew I would never leave the house again if I had so much geeky goodness to watch.
We saw a booth with Noel Neill, from the original TV Superman series. While we didn't get to speak to her, we did have a lovely conversation with Sarah Douglas who is best know for her portrayal of Ursa in the Superman movies. She also played Garshaw of Belote, a member of the Tok'ra High Council on Stargate SG-1. And OMG! is she gorgeous! We briefly discussed SG-1 and she mentioned how she felt sorry for AT on a show filled with such naughty boys. She laughed when I mentioned that I had read about CJ and RDA's penchant for practical jokes and then mentioned a trick CJ had played while she was on set. She also mentioned how much she enjoys Stargate fans because they seem so "down to earth".
Mrs. CB explained that she teaches a college class that explores the physics of sci-fi and SD told us about her lecturing experiences on the topic of Film and Communication. It was like we were talking to a regular joe. Best celebrity experience ever. She even called Mrs. CB "Goofy", but I shall let her explain that ;)
I did get a "Fear the Vest" tee with OSU coach Jim Tressel painted on the front, and Mrs. CB got a card with a stick-figure Wonder Woman (all boobs and hair) that is really just F-U-N. I'm so glad we went, and now I need a nap :)
