Signs of spring in Central Ohio
Apr. 20th, 2007 04:33 pm5. The OSU Women's bball team chokes in one of the first two rounds of the NCAAW tourney.
4. Ducks take up residence in the flooded back yards one block north of us.
3. Hairballs
2. Snow flurries one week before the OSU Spring Game
1. CB shaves her legs.
It has been slower than smoke off shit the last two days at work. Basically, we have made all our calls before 10:00 am and have to sit and answer phones/call the rare alert values for another 6 hours. Woe! But today, my boss came in late to work a split first/second shift. At 2:40, she said if we wanted to go home, we could, she would cover the phones. How freaking cool is that? I really got lucky with this job.
So I got out of work almost 2 hours early, have shaved my legs, will make up a pitcher of 'ritas, and will be lazy for the rest of the day. It is a gorgeous 70 degrees F here, the windows are open and the cats are purring like madmen. Mrs. CB is at the YMCA swimming (I'd be there as well, but I hyper-extended my shoulder a few weeks ago-in my sleep no less-and I am still very sore)and will be picking up a delicious feast of fast food on her way home. And it's Sci-Fi Friday night...at least for 9 more weeks.
I am still working on my "Five Meme" pieces, so if you signed up, you will get your sooner or later. Probably get a few done this weekend if Mrs. CB doesn't make me engage in too much "round the house" work.
Update on my niece: prior to opening my niece up, the docs told my family that the mass was malignant and they were removing the uterus, ovaries, part of the vagina?! as well as parts of the colon and bladder, then performing an ileostmy for urination and a colostomy for teh pooping. An hour later, they tell my family that the tumor is NOT!! cancerous, her reproductive organs looked fine, and instead of doing all this re-working of her innards, they wanted to research ways to shrink the mass. Then they closed her up. Now, with all the tests and imaging they took of this poor kid, one might presume that they could have figured that shit out before cutting an 8" incision in her gut.
They also changed the diagnosis. This week, she is suffering from a genetic disease known as von Recklinghausen syndrome, aka Neurofibromatosis Type 1. Two weeks ago, they said she had type 2...I don't think they know what it is. They are sending samples out to other pathologists and I told my sister to have one sent to my place of business. Jazz was supposed to go home today and they will now look at her father's side of the family for genetic testing. He should be easy to find seeing as he got kicked out of the Corp years ago and is now lounging in prison.
My family, people. I swear, I couldn't make this shit up if I tried ;)
Thanks again for all the kind words and everyone have a wonderful day!

Cheers,
SMG
P. S. And heavens be praised for the good news about your niece.

Date: 2007-04-20 11:42 pm (UTC)Good news about your niece. I'm still remembering her and your aunt in my thoughts and prayers. This must be the week of doctor's having to eat their words. A good friend of mine, a five year ovarian cancer survivor, went in Wednesday for a probable colostomy and possible ileostomy as the doctor reported that her colon showed cancer just about everywhere. There was a tumor on the outside and inside of the colon in one location that they re-sectioned, BUT...they couldn't find any more cancer. None, nunca, nada any at all. So, who knows what's wrong with the damn tests???

Date: 2007-04-21 12:59 am (UTC)You know the drill: the slides will make the rounds of all the current experts in academia. After all that it still might just be their collective best guess. I feel for all of you, especially your niece.
On the other hand, regarding 3 and 1, have you learned nothing from 'The L Word' and hapless Henry? Next time, shave in the tub.
