1 down, 4 to go
Dec. 17th, 2006 06:44 pmMere words cannot express the utter fatigue I feel right now. We started at 9:00 yesterday morning and cleaned the hell out of the castle, managing to fit in food prep for today's gathering whenever we could. Add in the fact that I re-caulked the tub/shower Fri night before we went out to load up on groceries, and I think I may be too tired to drink wine tonight!
Mrs. CB's family was lovely and we had a wonderful time. They left exactly 2.5 hours after arriving and our cleanup was minimal. I did lose the tip of my finger (must be going around) in a potato slicing incident, but otherwise everything went well. They all loved their gifts, including the home-made Xmas ornaments Mrs. CB painted and the cookies this domesticated diva baked last night. Mrs. CB's mama gave me a Black and Decker 9.6 volt cordless combo power drill/driver. /Ralphie I was so surprised I hugged the box! Mrs. CB received a beautiful cord jacket and some gardening stuff. And Jared, Mrs. CB 's autistic nephew seems to have made leaps and bounds in social skills progress. He was SO excited about coming to Columbus, and for some reason he really loves to hang out with me. He's a great kid when his parents just let him be...him. And he's crazy about the Blue Jackets! I would love to get him tickets to a game sometime.
Dinner was good-ham, turkey, my famous scalloped taters and Blackberry Mer-lot! We did receive a jug of home-made elderberry wine which neither of us wants to try first. Anyone out there want to sip this stuff so we can see if it's safe? Or tastes good? Apple and cherry pie, gingerbread and everyone's favorite...Cool Whip. In fact, I'ma gonna go have some pie right now.
Night, John-Boy!

sorry about the finger, stud
alas - I was hoping to see if you and the mrs. were up for dinner on the 28th on my trek north, but dad has insisted I take a more southern/coastal route in hopes of missing some lake effects snow... damn
