The Back to Work Blues
Jul. 27th, 2005 01:22 pmI saw the surgeon this morning and while she is pleased with my progress, she thinks I need to go back to Physical Therapy, and I agree. I am still having flexibility issues which irritates the nerve which causes pain. I have woken up in pain every morning for the past few weeks and although is goes away as I become active during the day, it will cause problems when I start back to work.
I drove up to the Hell Lab to give them my return to work certification. I spoke with The Big Boss and The New Supervisor about my restrictions and their expectations for my return. Prior to my surgery, I worked Mon-Thurs, 5:00am-1:30 pm. They asked me to come in at 8:00am Monday morning because they might need to "adjust" my schedule. What The Fuck?! It's my understanding under the FMLA that they basically need to keep me at the same job I was doing before surgery or move me to one that is "equivalent in pay, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment such as same shift, equivalent hours, etc." If anyone on my flist has any experience with FMLA or legal expertise, I would appreciate your insight.I ran into my old supervisor and she told me, very secretively, that she thought they had to bring me back at the same hours. TBB and TNS said they would "discuss" it after I mentioned that I needed to keep the same hours and would contact me no later than Friday morning. In the meantime, I cannot schedule PT because I don't know what my hours are. I hate that place. And the Nasty Twat smirked at me when I came in. Gawd, but I had hoped she'd have died while I was off. Bitch.
I also need to fax office notes to my disability insurance because they denied the six-week extension to my disability claim...so I haven't been paid since July 1st and that was only half a check. They denied me based on the fact that the surgeon's office did not send office visit/chart notes as requested. I got copies of those as well as my surgery notes today but they did not include the LAST visit when we decided to extend the recuperation time. Asshats, the whole lot of them! In the mean time, I am enjoying being "kept", but it is starting to wear thin. Once I send the info, the claim should go through and I will get my back pay.
Besides all that bullshit, I am trying to find a copy of the 1984 version of Dune for my nephew. He is into the Dune series of books and prefers the David Lynch movie version over the miniseries on Sci-Fi. Yeah, I'm not having much luck. And my niece wants a copy of my bootleg "Wicked" video. And the CD. The things I have to do to remain "the cool aunt" which I was told I was.
I suppose I should go and see what the wife wants to do this afternoon. Maybe we can catch a flick or something since I doubt she'll support my going on a murderous rampage.
