My Annual Thanksgiving Post
Nov. 21st, 2006 09:45 pmTomorrow marks the official beginning to the holiday season here at Casa Cabenson. Mrs. CB will leave bright and early to hit her grandparents 50th wedding anniversary celebration while I toil away (not really) at work.
I will be spending Thanksgiving lounging in front of the tube, in my jammies, probably popping open a bottle of wine before noon, and snuggling with the boys as we await the return of Mrs. CB and her spoils. And while I gaze at High School Marching bands walking through horse poop, I shall enjoy the aromatic cooking of my Stouffer's Red Box Turkey, Dressing and Mashed Potatoes. But not until I finish off the cinnamon rolls.
As I have for the past two years, I offer a short list of the
I am thankful for (in no particular order):
1. A partner who not only encourages me to take leaps of faith but is always there to catch me when I fall. Which I do quite often. It's not easy raising a 40-year old, y'all.
2. A new job where I am treated like a human being instead of a body covering a shift. For allowing me the opportunity to recall long forgotten aspects of my career as well as the chance to learn new things on a daily basis.
3.The wonderful guy at Toyota who helped me find my beloved Helen Stewart, a vehicle that will aid in my physical recovery instead of impeding it.
4. Again for the new job which pays for the love of Helen Stewart.
5.Our boys who simultaneously entertain and irritate me on a constant basis: Greyson-for his shaved ass and aggressive boob-kneading; Bruin for keepingMrs CB out of the big girl bed me company every night by sleeping on my arm; Asher for sitting on the toilet every morning to make sure I get through my shower safely; Smokey for cuddling and being the best alarm clock even on my days off; and Artemis for being cute and bad at the same time...he takes after me :)
6. Common sense winning out over fear tactics in the most recent elections. For Americans pulling their heads out of their asses and demanding a change. It's about fucking time!
7. Grilled cheese sammiches and tomato soup.
8. Friends near and far, in the real world and cyberland, and especially for those that reside in both. I bonded with my best friend 10 years ago during a drunken evening that ended in performing a cavity search on a turkey. I have had the pleasure of meeting a couple LJer's ( and one librarian)this past year and I can only say my life is better with all of you i it. Except for you freaky stalkers....you know who you are ;)
9.Wire In The Blood which gave me a fix when my Simone Lahbib jones was getting out of control. And to Lahboob's parents for knocking boots and conceiving her, cause yeah, she turned out FIIIIIINE!
10. Falling in love with music again and discovering so many new (to me) artists. Truly, nothing soothes this savage beast but good music, better lyrics, and a kick-ass back beat.
11. Improvements in technology...I love you, but my bank account doesn't.
12. The Lady Buckeyes 2OT win tonight when they were freaking ahead by 12 with 3 minutes to play.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all and travel safely!

Date: 2006-11-23 08:05 pm (UTC)Dude, if only all of us could be so lucky as to find Numbers 1 and 2 on your list (well, and Number 7 because food is good), the world would be a much happier place.
Happy Thanksgiving! Eat. Eat much now :)
