That Time of Year
Nov. 11th, 2006 03:08 pmHave I mentioned that we are having Mrs. CB's family down for Christmas this year? Who's bright fucking idea was that, you ask? Yeah, it was mine. I couldn't go up last year for Christmas because of the whole "recovering-from-second-spinal-surgery" thing, and as I am again having some back issues, I thought it would be best for them to come here. So, with the inviting of Teh In-Laws comes the overhaul and cleaning of Teh Castle and the planning of Foodstuffs. I know we have over a month, but with my non-dependable lumbar discage, I want to do a little each weekend.
Today has been very productive. We have a basic menu planned (all easy shit and anything that's not, we are getting pre-made) and I have attacked all of the cabinets in the kitchen. At least the INSIDES of the cabinets. I need to find the cord to my power scrubber so I can give the outsides a good cleaning and polish. I have been at it for about 3 hours, but both my spouse and my back have told me it's time to stop.
Tomorrow, if it stops raining, we need to check our guttersfor crack whores and make sure they are not blocked, then I need to begin the switching out of summer to winter clothes. It's nice to work in a place where I can actually wear the multitude of turtle-necks and sweaters that I have. And my cords, sweet, sweet cords!
Next Saturday we plan to stay indoors for our own safety. There's this little rivalry football game scheduled with That Team From Up North and if we both win today, it will be #1 and #2 in the nation competing. The game is late afternoon which means that people will start drinking at breakfast (Kegs and Eggs, y'all!) and continue through the evening or until they die of alcohol poisoning. If we lose, there will probably be non-celebrating* around Campus and if we win, there will probably be celebrating** because that will mean we are playing for the Championship in January. Thank god we live far away from Campusbecause I can't afford to get arrested again.
Next Sunday is the first home game for The Ohio State University's Women's Basketball team. Do I have any NCAAW luvah's on my flist? Now is the time to speak up. We are very excited about this year's team but realistic enough to know that they are young and will need time to adjust and find their way. We ARE hoping that they can actually get past the first round of the tourney this year.
Next Sunday is also our anniversary. I bought Mrs. CB a beautiful sterling silver and turquiose prayer box necklace with all intentions of giving it to her to celebrate our 7 wonderful years together, but I decided to give it to her last week. She loved it, as I knew she would. She'll be taking me out to dinner-hot dogs and nachos at the game, I believe :)
Okay, off to rest on some ice.

Date: 2006-11-11 08:59 pm (UTC)Watch out for Rutgers. They may not have Cappie this year, but they've got some amazing players left.
As for football, people around here are talking about RU playing in the championship game, but I highly doubt it, unless, of course, they do go undefeated. I'm just glad to see them go over .500 in a season-something I thought I'd never see after going to these games my entire life. But meh...
