I need angsty songs, haunting lyrics, emo as hell for a project I'm working on. Req me your favorite angst music, and if possible, list song name and performer.

Is *this* emo enough for you?

Annie Lennox- Saddest Song I've Got

Darling are you feeling
The same thing that I'm seeing
The troubles of the day
Took my breath away
Took my breath away
Now you're no longer talking
And I'm no longer listening
There's nothing left to say
Said it anyway
Said it anyway
And I want you not
And I need you not
I'm dying
Cos this is the saddest song I've got
The saddest song I've got
Darling are you healing
From all the scars appearing
Don't it hurt a lot
Don't know how to stop
Don't know hot it stops
Now there's no sense in seeing
The colours of the morning
Hold the clouds at bay
Chase them all away
Chase them all away
And I'm frozen still
Unspoken still
Heartbroken
Cos this is the saddest song I've got
The saddest song I've got

Holla if you want me to upload it somewhere for you.

The most angsty song ever is Mad World by Tears for Fears, in which the lyrics tell us that 'the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I ever had'.

Actually that entire album, The Hurting, is all sorts of angst.

And of course, Morrisey is the angstyist angster to ever angst. Girlfriend in a coma is a good one.

Final Cut by Pink Floyd.

Anything on The Wall by Pink Floyd, come to that.

Hmmm...I used to be all about the angsty songs, and I can't think of any else. Will have to ponder and get back to you.

"The Maker Makes" - Rufus Wainright.. I have it if you need it.
"Everybody Hurts" - REM - I don't have that one
"I Hate Everything About You" - Three days Grace. Don't have that one either
"You oughta know" - Alanis Morrisette. I have that one.

...That's all I can think of for now :P

Here's a list that covers a bunch of different musical tastes. (I mean, really. The Bee Gees? *grin*) Some are slow, some are fast, some won't be remembered this time next year.

-"It's a Fire" by Portishead
-"Black" by Pearl Jam, but get the acoustic cover by Staind
-"The Scientist" by Coldplay
-"Someday We'll Be Together" by the Supremes
-"Torn" by Ednaswap (get the acoustic version)
-"Why" by Annie Lennox
-"Lovesong" by Tesla
-"The Missing" by Filter
-"To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees
-"One Thing" by FingerEleven
-"Trip" by Hedley (warning: this is pure emo that all the kids are listening to these days... overwrought, simple rhyming structure, sing-a-long emo chorus. LOL!)
-"See Right Through Me" by Mobile ([livejournal.com profile] roman_machine says it's emo. :p)
-"Fade into You" by Mazzy Star
-"Fake Plastic Trees" and "Let Down" by Radiohead
-"The State I'm In" and "Last Day of Our Acquaintance" by Sinead O'Connor
-"Nobody Knows it but Me" by the Tony Rich Project
-"Putting the Damage On" by Tori Amos

Stars: "Your Ex-Lover is Dead," "One More Night," "The First Five Times."

Sam Phillips (you know I had to): "All Night," "I Wanted to Be Alone," "Strawberry Road," "When I Fall" or "What Do I Do?"

If any of them sound appealing, I could send files to you tomorrow. Well, I could send a couple of the Stars songs today...

When you say "emo", do you mean emo as in the new, trendy stuff, or just emotional music?

One song that might qualify on both counts is Hate Me by Blue October.

And with a sad heart, I say 'bye' to you and wave,
Kicking shadows on the street, for every mistake that I have made,
And like a baby boy, I never was a man
'Til I saw your blue eyes cry and I held your face in my hand
And then I fell down, yelling "Make it go away!"
Just make a smile come back and shine just like it used to be
And then she whispered "How can you do this to me?"

Hate me today
Hate me tomorrow
Hate me for all the things
I didn't do for you.

Or, if you just mean emotional lyrics, maybe Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up.

When you're walking downtown,
Do you wish I was there?
Do you wish it was me?
With the windows clear,
And the mannequin's eyes
Do they all look like mine?
You know you could.

I wish you would
Come pick me up
Take me out
Fuck me up
Steal my records
Screw all my friends
Behind my back
With a smile on your face
And then do it again
I wish you would.

Right now the angsty song I'm loving is by Alice Shaw, I uploaded for you and it's called One Last Time. Breaks my heart and she has an amazing voice.

almost anything by PJ Harvey would do it.
Off the top of my head:

'Catherine.' ("I envy to murderous envy your lover...")
'O my lover' ("don't you know it's alright? you can love her/ you can love me at the same time")
'This Mess We're in' (with Thom York. More melancholy than angsty).
'To Bring You My Love' ("I've lain with the devil/ cursed god above/ forsaken heaven/ to bring you my love")

Garbage angsts like nobody's business.
My Lover's Box
Vow
Sleep Together ("If we sleep together/ will I like you better")

Ok, I have way too many angsty songs. bah.

If you're still looking (yeah, I know, I just stumbled across this):

The Golden Age - Beck (or anything on Sea Change)
Stars All Seem to Weep - Beth Orton
That's How I Knew This Story Would Break My Heart - Aimee Mann
Punch Line Loser - The Spinanes
You Owe Me Nothing in Return - Alanis
We Might As Well Be Strangers - Keane
Rain - Patty Griffin
Black Star - Gillian Welch's version of Radiohead

hmm..looking back, these are less edgy angsty emo than they are slow-burn bittersweet. Either way, they all go well with red wine and longing.

You want the honest answer or the polite one? :) I'm not fan of Det though I do like Tweety. As for Katie Smith..gotta respect her game. If it's not the Storm, then I tend to follow individual players. I like having a gf on every team, keeps me interested when it's not the Seattle ;)
