This coming Wed is my surgery and I am trying to find stuff to keep me entertained for the week that I’ll be off. This is where you come in, dear friends list.

What fic do you recommend? What shows should I attempt to watch? What else can I do that doesn’t require heavy lifting, bending down, or being coherent?

there's always video games :D a mindless romp through a classic RPG like Dragon Warrior might be fun and entertaining :) (if you like such things)

otherwise, a pile of good books to hand is fun. if you like mystery with a fantasy twist, i would suggest Shirley Rousseau Murphy's Joe & Dulcie mysteries, the first of which is Cat on the Edge.

i hope your surgery goes well and that you recover post haste :)

Um...you mean on line fics or actual paper books?

Terry Pratchett is always a good read. What kind of fiction do you like?

I can't think of any television shows. Are you going to 'netflic' shows? If they have it, get the new series of Doctor Who or Torchwood. They rock. Or Life on Mars. Also very awesome.

I have no book recs because all I've been reading lately is stuff for my comps.

But as for tv...

My girlfriend says that Damages is a must see (I've only seen a bit). If you just want something fluffy (fluffy with fluffy LGBT stuff) to watch for a stretch, I can't say too many good things about Ugly Betty.

Also, staring at Amanda Tapping is always fun in my opinion; so, here's the link for the new show she's doing that's completely web based.

Hiya hot stuff! Been a while...

Ok so you could sign up to World of Warcraft and come play with us.... you'll wake up in 2012.. but it'll be fun!

Or if it's just tv you're after.. there's Sanctuary (ok that was obligatory), Torchwood, Dr Who, House, The craptastic can't look away fun of The L Word, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Battle Star Galactica.. ok that's off the top of my head.. I really just wanna spank you in WoW.

My fingers are crossed for it all going well and a speedy recovery for you!

If you don't mind a trip to the book store, you could check out the Vatta's War series by Elizabeth Moon. It's kind of dull in some places, but I really really wanted to find out what happened in the end. And it helped to imagine Stephanie Chaves-Jacobsen playing the lead role, and Rosamund Pike playing her super hot cousin Stella.

You can... join me in obsessing over hot women in suits? Performing musicals? It's Japanese, so yeah, language barrier, but some things transcend that: Linky (http://youtube.com/watch?v=WdC9ysPCFDU). Oh, and for the raised-Catholic in you: Linky the second (http://youtube.com/watch?v=SmK_rVSHitE).
