For want of a place to park my damn car...

cabenson...a job was almost given up. Week two in the new place and I am starting to feel really comfortable with the work and my co-workers. This week, I shifted to my regular hours and found that it was impossible to find a parking place on the campus. Tuesday saw me parking three blocks away and leaving early to catch the last shuttle bus for the day. Yesterday, I had a parking violation taped to my car (a warning only-no fine). It seems that the line I thought was covered in dirt was actually painted over...yeah. So did the guy I parked behind.
Turns out they lose a ton of new employees due to the lack of parking. 75% of the day shift staff park at the City Center parking garage and are shuttled back and forth. Because of my swing shift, I was given a coveted spot on campus, but I had to be there an hour early to claim it or risk parking in the un-shuttled netherlands...or behind the KFC.Then I had an hour to kill before I could start my shift. I know it's hard to believe, but I can only eat so many donuts in a week. Knowing I was on the verge of walking out, my boss spoke to her boss and they agreed to allow me to start my shift an hour earlier. Our department will move to another area (across the street) late 2006/early 2007 and parking will no longer be a problem. For now, I am working 9-5. And I can surf the net at work now. Joy!!
Other news? I think I have gained 80 lbs this week. Must be the margaritas (happy early Cinco de Mayo!!)and the cafeteria food. And hormones, the dirty little fuckers. Mrs. CB grilled tonight and the burgers were awesome! So awesome, I skipped the fries.
Not much else to say. All the new info I am taking in each day seems to have taken over my brain and I can no longer think clearly. But that could be due to Teh Booze as well. Thank god all of my new co-workers like to drink :)
Off to iron the misses' clothes for tomorrow. Be good! And if you can't, then you better at least tell me about it ;)
