The "Whatcha Been Up To?" Post
Feb. 21st, 2006 08:09 pmI have spent the majority of the past week fighting off an infection that seems to be seeded in the depths of Hell itself. Starting to feel a little more like myself, but damn, am I ever tired. And I'm taking a sulfur-based antibiotic-opening the container reminds me of Stadium Park when I was a kid (the water treatment plant was behind the park and it always reeked of rotten eggs)
Mrs. CB and I kinda skipped Vday (with the exception of exchanging cards) because she had a meeting to attend-who the hell schedules dinner meetings on Valentine's Day? We made up for it this weekend with a very decadent lunch at Brio Tuscan Grille. I don't think I've ever had two glasses of wine before 4:00pm on a Sunday before. It was for medicinal reasons, I assure you ;)
Mrs. CB was off from high school yesterday but still had to teach her college class. I took the day off as well and we spent a leisurely weekend reading, watching the tube, and doing a little writing. One ficathon down, another to go.
This weekend, we are going to see The Government Inspector, which is directed by my dear friend and drinking partner,
artskat. We also need to get tix for The PuppetQueers show for next weekend. Won't be the same without
celluloidson sodomizing a puppet...
This weekend is also the start of the Columbus Home and Garden Show....mmmm, remodeling projects that we can't afford. We do want to have the driveway redone and add a double carport. Hope we can find something tasteful and modern and not-at-all trailer-trashy.
Work sucks.
And taking me by complete surprise, I became an aunt again today. My half-brother and his wife had a son, Ryan Michael. He is about 7 weeks early- in fact, we had planned to mail the congrats card from NYC. Five pounds, 17 inches and dark, curly hair. Mother developed severe pre-eclampsia, but they are both doing absolutely wonderfully. I hope I'll get to see him someday. Daddy #3 and his family live in Texas, and his kids weren't too thrilled to hear they had an older sister, but we are slowly developing a relationship. I'ma gonna go baby shopping tomorrow-this makes 3 nephews and 2 nieces. Proud auntie, indeed :)
Off to bed, with codeine-induced visions of Helen Stewart doing Alex Cabot in my head.

Date: 2006-02-22 12:36 pm (UTC)Did you always know you had younger siblings? I'm just curious. You don't have to tell me. My college roommate found when she was an adult that her father had children by another woman living in the United States. (she was from Curacao) It was a bit of a shock for her, naturally.

Date: 2006-02-22 07:17 pm (UTC)Mom got pregnant at 18 by boy who wasn't ready to take responsibility. Daddy #1, who had loved her from afar, offered to marry her and raise the baby (moi) as his own. They had two more kids together and divorced when I was a teen. Then Mom married Daddy #2, my stepfather. About 5 years ago, biological daddy (Daddy#3) and I were introduced-he has a son and a daughter from his first marriage. I have met them all, including my 5 yr old niece, with the exception of my half-bro's new wife and the baby :)

Dude, please. If you're going to lie to us, try to make it believable, okay?
