I just realized that I am approaching the one-year anniversary of being on LJ. With the exception of [livejournal.com profile] invisible_sun (we'll miss ya Andy! Who will be Xenia:White Trash Princess at the Halloween parties?), I have gotten to know all of you through the Law and Order universes. So here are my questions for the day.

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow?

2. Who did you ship?

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?

I was a huge X-Files fan, then X:WP. I kinda fell into the A/O ship by accident.

I have only written for SVU.

I am hoping that TBJ will let me play with Amy Carlson...I have liked her since she played Josie on Another World.

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Xena: Warrior Princess were the biggest ones

2. Who did you ship?
BTVS: Buffy/Faith mostly, Angel: no shipping really in this one...not enough girls...I just loved Amy Acker like whoa, Xena: Xena/Gabby duh

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?
nope never written fic.

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?
Umm...I don't know?

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow?
Started with Xena, fell into Buffy, skidded by Voyager. About the same time as SVU I found CSI. I have also read smatterings of Facts of Life, ER, X-Files.

2. Who did you ship?
Xena: X/G only - refuse to read any other pairing in that fandom
Buffy: Started with B/W but also W/T, B/T, B/F and a few wild B/W/T. Have recently discovered F/Kate from Angel.
Voyager: J/7
CSI: C/S
FoL: J/B
SVU: A/O, Ab/O, Ab/A

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?
I have penned several drabbles for SVU. And am currently working on my first major full length SVU piece.
Buffy was the first fandom I wrote in. Have both general and femslash stories there. Wrote the first one in 1998.

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?
no idea - I'm not watching anything but my staples

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow?
Macguyver, Quantum Leap, DS9, ER. Because of ER, I also started reading f/f from X:WP and ST:VOY.

2. Who did you ship?
DS9 - Odo/Kira
ER - Kim/Kerry

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?
Nope.

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?
Not sure. Battlestar Galactica looks interesting, but I haven't got the time to watch it. =(

1. My biggest previous fandom was Frasier ::ducks::. I dabbled a little in other stuff, but that was the only actual fandom I've had previous to SVU.

2. Niles/Daphne ::ducks again::

3. I wrote a ton of Frasierfic, and all of it was bad. At various times I've written a fic or two for Rent, The Hours, Girl Interrupted, Chicago and even Xena - even though I have never actually seen a single episode of Xena. My crazy ex talks about it constantly and liked me to write fic for her. My favorite pairing was Callisto/Gabrielle.

4. What, the next big ship of the universe? Definitely Seth/Ryan from the OC. As to my next big ship, I haven't the foggiest. Alex/Olivia makes me very happy for the moment.

Let's see.
1. Way back when, I was a Lois and Clark fandom person. Followed by ST:TNG. SeaQuest. Earth2. X-Files. Anne McCaffrey's Pern series (does that count?).

2. I'm a hopeless romantic, so if it was shippable, I probably sailed it. Slash, nonslash, whatever.

3. I did write fic. I don't think I realized I was writing fic when I was writing fic. I mean, I didn't know it was such a huge genre. But I probably started all of this in the early 90's. I wrote Lois and Clark fic (badfic), Star Trek fic (bad fic), lots of X-Files fic (slightly better fic). I was in an e-mail RPG for the Pern series, so that's like writing fic. Oh, and my one pathetic little SVU fic.

4. I'm not good at guessing, so I'm not sure who the next will be. There are a ton of people on the various Lost ships. I guess I haven't found my next one yet.

Oh jeez. And I fandomed Buffy and Voyager too. And shipped there. And I think I wrote Voyager fanfic. But I will never tell you where it is.

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow?
X-Files. It was all about X-Files. I've never been more nuts for a show ever.

2. Who did you ship?
Mulder/Scully. I did write one Scully/Other femslash, though.

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?
Oh yes. Lots and lots of it. Most of it shitty. All of it still available online.

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?
Ordinarily in L&O, I'd have said the new girl on the Mothership, but I dunno... I too hope that TBJ will bring some hotness to the table.

X-files.

2. Who did you ship?
Mulder/Scully

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?
Heh. No.

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?
It will always be Alex/Olivia, but outside svu.. no idea.

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow? The X-files. I learned English because I fancied Scully. Good times.

2. Who did you ship? At first Mulder/Scully, then Reyes/Scully.

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms? Crappy, yes, for ER and The X-files and McLeod's Daughters.

4. What do you think the next big ship will be? Judging by the minimum of 4 episodes a day of Gilmore Girls, I think it's Gilmore Girls and Lorelai/Luke. Although there are hardly any slash opportunities. Sadly.

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow?
Fandoms? None. L&O:SVU is the only fandom in which I participate in any active way.

However, I am/have been a much bigger fan (avid, squeeful viewer) of other shows like The Wire, Huff, Dead Like Me, Veronica Mars, Rescue Me, Sports Night, and so on. I watch too much TV.

2. Who did you ship?
I'm not much of a shipper. Eh, I guess Willow/Tara and Xena/Gabrielle. I wasn't horribly invested in either ship, but because W/T was main text and not BS subtext, I was heartbroken when they killed off Tara. Usually shows don't even have two female characters worth fussing over.

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?
Nope. I pointed and laughed at fandom activities. When active fans looked down their noses at passive fans, I laughed REALLY, REALLY hard. Now, I have to be quieter and humbler. Is that a word?

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?
Um, you mean for current L&O fans/shippers? And exactly how big does a 'ship need to be to qualify as "big"? Like, A/O is kind of a small 'ship compared to the BIG ones out there....

My problem is that (1) there are TONS of femslashy 'ships for shows I don't watch, usually with characters that are too young to interest me that way, (2) there are tons of great shows with great women characters, but the characters are the ONLY female characters on the show or are toooo het. Oy!

Possibilities (I'm still not too excited about):
*Bree/Lynette (DH)
*Sofie/Libby (Carnivale—almost main text!)
*If the show had survived another season, I could easily ship George/Betty (dead like me)
*Starbuck/Boomer (BSG)
I keep my eyes and ears open for Whedon and Noxon projects because they are sososo generous with the hoyay. I might even check out Point Pleasant. Mebbe.

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow?
I used to follow Harry Potter, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tenchi Muyo, and Dragonball Z. (I was a huge anime geek). I still ship ER, X-Files, JAG, and Justice League.

2. Who did you ship?
X-Files: Mulder/Scully, Doggett/Reyes
ER: Corday/Greene, Carter/Chen
JAG: Harm/Mac
Justice League: Hawkgirl/Green Lantern

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?
I crashed and burned in the Harry Potter fandom, but found a niche in Justice League.

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?
Casey/Elliot

This will probably be a retread of [livejournal.com profile] lonejaguar's but then, that's why we're together, I guess. :)

1. Prior to your LnO fascinations, what other fandoms did you follow?

The X-Files was probably the only one I will admit to (rather, that I haven't blocked out) but it was the biggie. That is to say I was completely obsessed for more than one season. And I was late to the party jumping in (for good) S4. Gillian Anderson was the beginning of the end for me.

2. Who did you ship?

Mulder/Scully, of course.

3. Did you write fic for these other fandoms?

I wrote one solo endeavor and then I found my <koff>writing partner<koff> and we wrote a few epics together.

4. What do you think the next big ship will be?

Hard to say. Personally, I'm hoping for a hot girlie addition to Cold Case so I can slash Lilly with someone in her own universe, but I think there's still much fun to be had with crossovers when TPTB don't give us what we want. Also, I find maintext to be gratifying to watch but not really gratifying to write. I love to mock The L Word but I haven't read a single fic that I've enjoyed. It seems when there's so much canon people can't write the characters believable... or maybe there aren't any great writers for maintext fandoms because there's little left for the imagination to explore.
