It is now official! I was offered the opportunity to transfer to another subdivision of my department and today I accepted. I will leave behind the world of Chlamydia, Herpes and Influenza (farewell, bitches!!) to tackle the dregs of clinical microbiology: Gonnococcus (Teh Clap), Strep and Parasites in da poop. I will also be saying farewell to rising at the fucking ridiculous hour of 3:30 am and saying hello to sleeping in and getting to work with my hair dried. I am going to be working 2nd shift but will have 3 nights a week off, including Fri and Sat...not bad at all. I will change jobs startin Nov. 27th.

I am excited about switching shifts and learning something new...well, not new, but something untouched in 10 years. I will also be able to return to an institute of higher learning to continue seeking the carnal knowledge my heart desires.

Of course the downside is that I will not see Mrs CB for a three-day period each week. Or is it? I think it will take us back to the days when we were dating...you know, those few weeks after we met before we moved in together? And she will have three nights each week to work on her Thesis From Hell and other non-fiction writing that she so enjoys.

Best thing...morning television with the cats and my coffee. Priceless!

Congrats! You know you're movin' on up when you start working on the Clap.

And absence makes the heart grow fonder, you know. My older sister lived with her boyfriend of five years during college, which arrangement ended during her thesis-centric final year. They both now cite "Medieval English Literature with a concentration on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" as the cause of their ultimate demise. She came home after graduation instead of setting up house in Boston, he slunk off and opened a fencing school somewhere in Massachussetts, and I learned the explosive possibilities of combining cohabitation and boring non-fiction writing.

I'm just saying....

;)

I'm sure we'll spend our days off enjoying each other's company...although it would be MORE fun if she'd let me get a girlfriend ;)

And Mrs CB LOVES to write feminist articles. I love to read comics and fanfic. If we could somehow find a way to merge these...

That's fabulous, darling! We're going to have to change your shift in the harem, I suppose?

Congrats, CB! I hope the new digs suit you and that Mrs CB can get some work done without your large lesbian hands distracting her from her scholarly obligation. ;-)

Do you remember the New Zoo Revue? Because the theme song is what went through my mind immediately: It's the New Poop Review-coming right at you!

Those few weeks after we met before we moved in together.
Well, I guess it becomes a stereotype because it's what we do. :D

Do you remember the New Zoo Revue?
OMG!! I just saw that they put out the DVD's for this a few weeks ago. I was singing that (much to Mrs CB's dismay) all through the grocery store.

Hahaha! Man, because Mrs. Blurr grew up in the Philippines, all of these childhood TV references are lost on her. She can't even work up a good dismay. When I pick up a flute-sized stick and break out in song:

HR PufnStuf
Who's your friend when things get rough?
HR Pufnstuf,
Can't do a little, cause you can't do enough!

she looks blankly at me like I'm singing Klingon.

But now that you tell me even New Zoo Revue is on DVD, I can work on her cultural deficiencies. Hey, what about the Banana Splits? Kroft Superstars.... Electra Woman and Dyna Girl were my very first OTP. Ahh, pre-adolescent hoyay. :D

My first TV girl crushes were Isis and The Bionic Woman...I think I'll make a post asking who everyone's first OTP or girlcrush were/was.

And let's not forget the Bugaloos!

The bugaloos, the bugaloos,
They're in the air and everywhere!
