Hello LJ, how ya been? Me? Oh, I've been busy gazing at Otalia vids and pulling my hair out as I wait for the storyline to come to a less-than-satisfying end.

Also planning the trip to NYC and praying that I have a good weekend and don't hold the group back because of my breathing and general inability to walk far distances. Thank god I got over my fear of the subway!

Had a four day weekend and it was LOADED with parental visits and or phonecalls. And with parental visits comes good eats and with good eats, comes food pron for the masses:

Daddy #3's 1965 Corvette Stingray which he only gets to drive when he visits Ohio in the summertime.

The back-end. He took me for a ride in it once...I wasn't impressed. Not a great ride for one with chronic back issues.

We couldn't stop talking about desserts at Cap City Diner, so we decided to get a cup of soup each, then a big dessert for lunch:

He had the deep-dish apple pie with ice cream. And proceeded to whine about it having more apples than crust...thank god I was only around him for a couple hours.

I had the Cup of Hot Chocolate Lava Cake. I managed to eat about half. Which was good, cause once Daddy #3 hit the road, Mama CB came to town and that meant only one thing: Dinner at Marcella...

Didn't get pics of the apps, but we had sweet-sausage stuffed mushrooms, melon and prosciutto, and a big-assed meatball that we split four ways.

Mrs CB had Gnocchi with Lamb

MamaCB had Spaghetti al Carbonara- she got to mix the egg in herself

We got our best bud to come along and she had the Slab O' Lasagna

I had the Veal Marsala.

Then it was dessert time!!

Mrs CB had the Cherry Crustada

MamaCB had the Profiteroles- with choc, pistachio, and honey vanilla gelato

Best bud had the Afagato-honey vanilla gelato melted in espresso

And I had Honey vanilla gelato with cookies

followed by an espresso.

We rolled home, watched football all day Saturday, then headed out for brunch yesterday morning at Brio Tuscan Grille:

MamaCB had the Eggs Benedicto

Mrs CB had the Swordfish Special

and I had Pancakes and Berries with a vanilla cream glaze.

We all had little mini desserts but ate them so fast I had no time to take pics: Key Lime Pie for Mom, Chocolate Caramel Cake for Mrs. CB and a Caramel Creme Brulee for me.

Mom headed home yesterday afternoon and now it's just me, Mrs CB and the boys and hotdogs and chili for the day. Have a great, and safe holiday!!!

I am soo jealous of your food. I've been stuck inside for 2 days, and it appears a possible 3rd. Sandwiches and soup have been the cuisine of the weekend with, of course, a side of ice cream each day. I may try to venture out for take-out today...gotta have something of substance before going back to the grind. Pretty sad to have to use my 3 day weekend to get over a damned sinus infection. Oh well, my personal days will be put to good use in October. *g*

Have a great day! Tell the missus hi for me.

She makes it look like all we did all weekend was eat, doesn't she? We shopped and I did a wee bit o' gardening.
Sorry about the sinuses! Hope you feel better soon. I have the first of the year scratchy throat myself.

Oh man, that Corvette is SWEET. I'm sorry it wreaks havoc upon your spine, though--I can see how it would. Those babies aren't built for comfort, per se.

And teh food! The gnocchi looks great, as do the profiteroles (LOVE those things).

Thank god I got over my fear of the subway!

Well, if you're willing to splurge, there are always cabs. (I was thinking that as a possible option for you when you guys trek over to Brooklyn...if you are already downtown, it would cost you about $15-20 to come into our hood, and less if you split it with a couple other people.)

Oooh, I love Italian restaurants that come with paper mats illustrated with maps of Italy. It feels so authentic. Mmmm.... looks good. I have never seen espresso melted gelato. Maybe on our next Dyke Road Trip Across America we will have to stop by and indulge your food cravings.

Love the illustrated maps that never include Sardegna. It's only the 20th region, no reason to include it, really. It's like a map of the US without Florida. LOL

Your food makes me hungry.

Sh*t, if I wasn't hungry before, I am now. The gnocchi and the spaghetti look particularly tempting as do all the desserts.

The food looks delicious. The Otalia storyline, though, is heartbreaking! What the heck happened, do you think?

I have a lot to say about Otalia, but I'm going to wait until the last ep airs. I am writing a Ship Manifesto on the pairing that I don't want to taint with my hate...

The food trumps the car in my book anyday. Good Lord, but I've gotta go find something to EAT.
