Finally getting a chance to relax over this long weekend. For those that haven't heard via Mrs CB's journal, our boy Artie became ill yesterday and had emergency surgery very early this morning. A dried up hairball was blocking his intestine. They were really concerned about surgery because he has a history of congestive heart failure.

Thankfully, he came through it just fine and is resting quietly at the kitty hospital at a cost of about $8 million/day. We should be bringing him home tomorrow morning. I spent today reorganizing the bedroom so he can convalesce under my watch. The little kitty futon is made up and we'll set up food and litter tomorrow. He and I will be spending a good portion of the next week together as his incision heals and I relax from all the drama!

It is a gorgeous day! Gonna just sit back for a while and read. Maybe have a drink because my gut is suddenly much better than it has been for 2 weeks. I guess realizing that you have been consuming month-old expired pudding can be beneficial to your GI house.

Mrs CB is out watering her plants and has just announced, "The po-po is circling the block". Could be a fun afternoon :)

I hope the little buy feels better soon and that you're not reduced to begging on the street for stale cheese to pay for his trip to the vets.

One thing we know about is how expensive being a parent is. It is very lucky that your Artie's problem was caught in time and he sailed through. Good luck with the rehab.

Artie is lucky to have very devoted mamas. I love that he has his own kitty futon! I'm sure he'll love recovering with Nurse CB. Hugs to all the poor, freaked-out boys, & you guys too.

The other week when we took Diego & Leon to the vet, the de-worming meds + basic exam + shots = over $500. GAH.

Damn! That has to be the NYC inflation cause that is about what it costs us for all 5.

We bought a kitty couch that flips out into a futon type thing for the boys at Xmas a few years ago. Our little human visitors always wanted to sit/sleep on it lol.

I'm really glad that Artie is doing better... poor wee thing! But I second whoever it was that said that it was as well that you were there! So lots of hugs etc and less hairballs. My sister had a hairball once, and it was very disturbing. For a few reasons really.

i really hope you both have a relaxing and gentle convalescence -

aside- every time I hear po-po I have to do a double check... in my wife's fam, it means the junk in your trunk, and this was so funny to me when I first heard it that the word no longer dings *police* in my mind (at least initially)... lol

Glad Artie made it through okay and will be home with his mommies soon. I'm sure it won't be long until he's taunting the other boys - flashing his scar and bragging about his new crib. :)

I'm so glad to hear Artie is pulling through. I'm sorry about your credit cards, though!
