Weekend in Cut Form
May. 6th, 2007 06:22 pmWhat a weekend. I probably would have enjoyed it more were I not out hijacking Kleenex shipments to stay the seemingly never-ending flow of snot from my nose. I took so much allergy/cold medicine shit last night before bed that I have no recollection as to what I actually took.
So, while my allergies caused me great agony and pain over the weekend, there were a few enjoyable moments as well.
Friday was no fun at all. Home early from work, pretty much directly to bed except for getting tix to Cindy Lauper's True Colors Tour. Woke up to watch SG-1 and SGA, back to bed.
Slept in and woke up feeling like utter shit. I really hate this time of year. Got doped up enough to head over to casa de
artskat's for a Kentucky Derby party. We were the Cinco de Mayo rebels who brought chips, salsa and margaritas to the Derby. All the guests "bought" horses (by paying $5 and blindly drawing the horse's name) and sipped on Mint Juleps( these are NOT! to be chugged, just FYI) and/or Bourbon Punch and/or Margaritas while waiting for the derby to start. Two of the three horses I drew came in 4th and 5th place. The one Mrs. CB had been so happy to get, Cowtown Cat ("Cowtown" is a nickname for Columbus and we have a few cats) came in dead last. Sorry for your loss, dear. Two of the fellas came with proper hats, gloves and pearls. And they were clutching those pearls as their respective horses vied for first place. Good thing they are partners, they can share the pot.
After the races, we enjoyed a lovely dinner of smoked pork, brisket, and chicken which had been cooked with a can of beer shoved up it's ass. It was damn good chicken! Mrs. CB and I headed out shortley after dinner as I was fading fast and needed to put lotion on my nose. Seriously, if you see any pics of me with what appears to be "white powder" on my nose, I assure you it is only flaking skin.
Today is just a gorgeous day. We headed to the Arena District to have lunch and watch a pre-season WNBA game between our beloved Katie Smith's Detroit Shock and the Washington Mystics. Our adventures started as we left with both of us discovering we had little cash between us (I had zip) and would need to hit the ATM before parking. Of course that didn't happen as we are old and forgetful and when Mrs. CB pulled up to take the garage ticket, she asked me for some cash. Upon reminding her that I had no god damn cash, as I had told her not fifteen minutes earlier, she tried to back out of the parking garage, blocking other people from getting in. Trying not to let my Irish temper overtake my mellowed state, we decided to pretend we were going to the movies so we didn't have to pay at all. Of course, we had to buy a movie ticket to get our parking ticket validated. So all you peeps making money off Spidey 3 should know that two cash-poor lesbians from Central Ohio did their part.
The game was great even though only about 500 people showed up. We had courtside seats at the top of the three point line-what a view! I never saw such prime booty and boobies in my life!! Seriously, they inbounded right in front of our heads! Katie played well, but couldn't score to save her life, no doubt because she was distracted by my beautyand the "Katie sit here" sign I painted on my face. Swinn Cash and Amy Sanders are fucking gorgeous, and Ivory Latta was surprisingly not annoying. Pee Wee Johnson was great and I really enjoyed watching both teams. The Mystics were okay, but outside of Coco Miller, I wasn't familiar with any of the players. And it's not a Shock game if Bill Lambier doesn't get a technical foul.
After the game, Mrs. CB took me to pick out my bday gift, a new camera. I got a Canon Powershot A570 IS and it's pretty sweet! The few pics I took of Mrs. CB's garden came out really nicely. Still need to play around with it before I subject you to a pic post.
Now I am going to make us a cake for dinner. You read that right, cake! for dinner!!

Date: 2007-05-06 11:25 pm (UTC)My assI didn't leave my house the entire weekend, so it's nice to see that you and the missus had such a fun-filled weekend despite that fact that you must've felt like utter crap.My favorite line: Of course that didn't happen as we are old and forgetful Ah, 'tis so true. But, at least there are enough of us forgetting
shitimportant things that we can temporarily rule out early-onset alzheimer's.Cake for dinner. Sounds good to me. Cake for breakfast and lunch sound pretty good, too.
